I am amiable, clever, and capricious.

My Self-Summary

So, I feel like I should be straight-up over here. I'm primarily on this site to meet some new people and maybe make some new friends. If something else comes out of that, great, but it's not something that I'm actively looking for and if that's what you're looking for then I'm probably not the right guy.

I must admit, I'm not a fan of summarizing myself because I like to think I'm not so predictable that I can pop out a few words and consider it an accurate representation of my being, but here goes anyway...

I'm really into art, literature, and music. I'm a post-modernist at heart, but I can't say I like one thing or another thing more than anything else. I guess you could say I go through phases. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Muse and a bunch of melodic-metalcore stuff, watching Dexter and the Office (which I can only view as The Melancholy of Michael Scott these days), and reading House of Leaves..

I like to tell people I'm an atheist, but I can't say I presume to know what's going to happen when I die or just how everything started. Spirituality, I believe, is a personal issue which shouldn't be pushed on any person against their will.

My favorite way to kill time is watching movies, telling jokes and sharing ideas with friends, and dicking around with the PS3.

It turns out that I'm a fairly polarizing individual. You either love me, or you hate me. There's not much room in between. I'm very strict and set in my ways most of the time, and I appreciate that same attitude in everyone I know.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm majoring in history and hoping to one day teach it at a university level. I like to consider myself an aspiring intellectual, so I just try to learn as much as I can everyday.

I also work as a nurse.

I’m really good at

I'm really good at being okay at a lot of things. I used to be a pretty good guitarist, but broke my hands so that's all out the window.

Not to brag (maybe a little), but I'm pretty funny. Not in that derivative frat-boy "I JUST HEARD A DANE COOK JOKE" kind of way. You really have to experience it to 'get' it, though, and I've only ever met a few people who weren't instant fans.

The first things people usually notice about me

I like to think it's my sharp ironic humor, but I honestly don't knoooow

Perhaps it's my (usually) fabulous hair.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Survivor, Fight Club, The Great Gatsby, and Poor Things

Movies: Edward Scissorhands and Fight Club

Music: Literally everything. Even country and rap, as shocking as that might be. If it's catchy, I like it.

Food: Pizza.

The six things I could never do without

My dogs, literature, comedy, espresso, nicotine, and pizza

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Trivial things that I encounter throughout the day. The future. Things like that.

On a typical Friday night I am

Kickin' it with my dudes.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm an open book. Nothing's really private, but I'm not just gonna go around telling my life story haha. If you wanna know something, then I suggest you ask!

You should message me if

If you refuse to compromise your individuality for any reason, and can appreciate that same quality in a fellow human being.

If you know how to properly use apostrophes (at least some of the time).
