It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family, singin' and dancin' down in Mississippi.

But, seriously, I am just your average girl. The kind of girl that can hold her liquor, loves to travel, and has a maybe-sort of-unhealthy obsession with the absurdities of American politics. And Latin America.

I don't eat meat, but sometimes cheat and eat seafood. It's this darn sushi addiction that holds more will over me than any addiction I've ever had.

I can hold my own at the following things: political discourse, beer pong, trivia, guitar hero, sleeping in.

Impromptu dance parties are my favorite. I'm talking about when you're out with friends and a song comes on that is absolutely necessary to dance to. Even if you are at an Applebee's. Just kidding, I would never go to Applebee's.

Going to graduate school, contemplating the future. Applying for jobs. Ugh.

Trivia, my mind is like a steel trap. Don't mess with me.

books - to kill a mockingbird, the great gatsby, player piano, kafka on the shore, how the garcia girls lost their accents, high fidelity

movies - wes anderson's stuff, sneakers, the big lebowski, the blues brothers, all kinds of horror movies (but especially zombies)

music - alt country, sloan, the long winters, john vanderslice, an assortment of 90s power pop, the decemberists, the dismemberment plan, beyonce

food - vegetarian fare of all sorts

dogs, mexican coca cola, cupcakes, the economist, anthony bourdain, and my favorite comedy on television: law and order svu

whether or not the amount of food-related items in my profile make me seem like too much of a fat girl. glenn beck.

making decisions i immediately regret on saturday morning. hopefully deleting my text messages before i go to sleep so i don't have to have too many painful reminders.

i have recently discovered firefly, you know, the fancy bar in westport? so now on a friday night, i am hopefully drinking a fancy cocktail. i had a thai iced tea inspired cocktail the other night that was to die for.

i play too much bejeweled blitz on facebook. and i may or may not have used to play magic:the gathering. i don't do that anymore, but it is truly my secret shame.

i have no right telling you what you should do. i will probably message you back, and offend you in some way. hooray awkwardness.
