I am relaxed, good-humored, and contemplative.

My Self-Summary

I'm just a guy looking for people to hang out with. I'd love to go to more local events such as plays, concerts, lectures, movies, but get pretty tired of going solo.

What I’m doing with my life

Studying English at Kansas State, but not entirely sure on where I want to go with that. Considering grad school for creative writing, but that's a maybe. After visiting LA, I'd really love to live somewhere around there someday, at least while I'm young. So much to do there versus here.

Prior to English I had planned on working with computer networks, and I will probably also pursue that option. Get some certifications and I should be good to go. Seems like you can't have too many options available to yourself.

My recent interest in world politics and human rights may influence my future dramatically, but pinning down my opinions is proving extremely time consuming and may take at least another year or two of development. I think Peace Corps may be a good option in case I haven't figured things out by the time I'm done with school.

I’m really good at

Computers. Everyone asks me to fix them and I'm usually too nice (or too stupid) to say no.

Writing; I enjoy it very much, and hope to get some creative writing done in my free time this summer.

Making people laugh; I guess this is subjective. Feel free to disagree.

The first things people usually notice about me

My size: I'm just fairly tall and somewhat muscular (farm bred).

At one time I'd have said my beard, but I keep it shaved or fairly trimmed now.

I also have a pretty big head. I'm not sure how many people actually notice, but it earned me plenty of names in Middle School. ha

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Right now I'm reading "A New Christianity For a New World" by John Shelby Spong. I'm really enjoying it so far; he seems to feel exactly as I do about Christianity but also feels the need to still call himself one.

I'm also starting to get into "The Dark Tower" series by Stephen King.

Been reading more and more lately, with a long list of "want to's" being eclipsed by "need to's," with world political history/theory at the forefront.

As for movies, American History X, American Beauty, The Dark Knight, Gladiator, Old School, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Star Wars, and Superbad to name a very select few. I can generally appreciate any movie if I can see what the writer/director was going for. I love a good mind-fuck movie; Donnie Darko was good, Deja Vu was alright for a mainstream movie. Just watched Primer, and I still don't get it. Would really like to watch it again with someone and try to figure it out together. District 9 was amazing.

TV Shows, all kinds; I tend to watch a series once it is over or canceled. Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks just to name two. I love South Park, House, and The Office. I have a weird tendency to turn on HGTV; I think it is weird anyway.

Music is by far one of my favorite subjects, but too complex for me to go into detail here. I can appreciate most music, but generally stick to heavy electronic or rock, and also psychedelic/drone. Post-rock and post-metal are also staples. Feel free to ask about music; I really enjoy talking to someone else who can talk about their own favorite genres that I may be less familiar with.

The six things I could never do without

The Internet, a way to access the Internet, a pencil and paper. Also, my senses (especially my sight and hearing). I think I would go crazy without them. Last but not least my music collection.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Politics, recently socialism, communism, and all the variants thereof. Formerly, and still at times, God and religion. Human existence. Death. Music.

Nothing too heavy. I promise I am actually a pretty funny person.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either out with my friends, in with my friends, or in watching movies and reading alone.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I crave solitude but despise loneliness.

I love pop music/culture.

My mom convinced me as a child that football players took ballet.

You should message me if

You want to talk about anything.
