My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I love politics, particularly international politics, and thinking about big, theoretical questions related to very practical matters. I'm not a super intense person about it in the sense that I don't need to talk about it all the time, but if I do talk about it, I'm definitely strongly opinionated about a lot of different issues.

I'm passionate and, I hope, relatively positive. Sincere and honest, occasionally to a fault, I'm just trying to take the good things in life and leave the bad things as I work my way towards making some kind of positive global change.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work in information management for an intergovernmental organization. This means that my listed location might only be my location for a little while. I generally get back to the states around every 6 months, but life changes all the time.

This paragraph used to begin: "I would really like to have a career in international politics/relations/development" and now I do, so that's pretty sweet. I'm extremely critical about the work I do, and things in general, so I welcome whatever kind of conversation you might want to have about it.

My general philosophy is that we're all meant to maximize the amount of good we can do for the world, even if that just means doing whatever wild human thing you dig doing. This is an important part of who I am, and it is the motivation behind almost everything I do.

Except jamming out, that I do just because it's awesome.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Everything! Especially being humble.
The first things people usually notice about me

My beard, how tall I am, my stunning intellect and dashing good looks.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I like all kinds of stuff, but I can also be kind of a hater. Apologies in advance, but I promise I don't mean anything by it. It's always a plus to be able to connect about literature, music, movies etc... but it's also nice to get a completely different set of tastes to compare and share with.

I like to read though I wish I could do it more often. Some favorites are The World According to Garp, The Crying of Lot 49, Revolt of the Cockroach People, The White Tiger and Planet of Slums. I'm a nerd about most things I'm in to, and literature is no exception.

I guess I'm abnormally into older music (hence the username) but I also like all kinds of new music. I'm a huge sucker for anything that oozes, almost painfully, with soul (songs like "Don't Cry Baby" by Etta James, "I've Been Loving You" by Otis Redding or, to be more contemporary, "Lady" by Regina Spektor). Funky beats, nasty guitar riffs and mind-blowing lyrics also get me going.

I appreciate good movies, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is clearly supreme. The Wire is the greatest TV show ever made.

I really love and appreciate good food, as well as beverages, but I would feel silly listing out favorites because it's difficult to compare a fine Belgian ale to an Arnold Palmer, or deep dish pizza to sushi. Sushi is worth noting though, because it has been a life long obsession and is quite a leap ahead of the other foods for me. I tend to get a sparkle in my eye when talking about or eating good food.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Perhaps I'm more ascetic than most, but I think I'm OK with just the basics. I don't really like "things" as much as people and feelings, at least compared to my compatriots. I do love hot sauce though... and a computer with an internet connection is pretty awesome. Still, I've gone without both and managed just fine.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
world politics, the state of nature, human beings, the meaning of life, people I love, people I've lost, how I relate to these things and how I may, one day, relate to them differently. I also have been thinking a lot about culture, the idea of development, how to make an impact, and how to approach an infinitely complex problem in some kind of practical way. The opposite sex also crosses my mind now and again.

I'm 27 so I also spend entirely way to much time worrying about my future and all that jazz. But it's cool, I've got a plan (which I also think about a lot).
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
killing it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
hard outer shell contains very squishy, but somewhat elusive, center.

I've piqued your interest. If you're an attractive and confident lady with a zest for intellect and you think you might like to hang out, this is also a great reason.

I think there are an infinite number of connections waiting to be made between all kinds of different people. Life, when you boil it down, is about those connections and how they shape you.

I'd also be game for a jam session.
