I am snarky, fucking amazing, and awfully cute.

My Self-Summary

I'm a sweet girl with a ridiculous sense of humor that runs the gamut from somewhat intellectual to super lowbrow. I live in downtown Denver and I love being right in the middle of the city. I don't ski or snowboard, but I will go hiking, camping, etc. I also like wandering around downtown, going to the dog park, going to shows and movies, walking to the art museum (and used clothing/record stores), getting ice cream, basically being outside and out 'n about. I have a dog, and I love him, and if you don't, we can't be friends. I was raised baptist, but I'm not really sure how i feel about it anymore. I like watching movies & TV (mostly on DVD) and listening to music, mostly quirky indie type stuff, but I worked in a CD/DVD store for about 3.5 years, so I've been exposed to and like a wide variety. I like to eat; I'm a fat kid in a skinny girl's body. But I can't really cook, so hopefully you can.

What I’m doing with my life

well, i'm recently unemployed, so there's that.

I graduated from CU Denver with a Bachelor's in Music and Entertainment Industry Studies with a focus in Music Business. But after about a year, I decided that the music biz wasn't really for me, so now I'm making a complete change in life path and going back to school to get a Master's in Secondary Education with a curriculum focus in English.

Anyway, in the end, my college education and career really won't have as much to do with my happiness as my relationships and interactions with other people. So I'm really trying to do more justice to those than anything else. But seriously guys, I'm really excited about this whole being a teacher thing.

I’m really good at

Knowing stupid pop culture references - Well, I used to be able to justify it as part of my job (at the record store) and education (the music business thing), but now I just kind of feel like half of my brain is taken up with knowing odd facts like how Brian Wilson recorded some of the harmonies for Pet Sounds right onto the master tapes, and could've destroyed them, but was such a musical genius that he didn't. I mean, I don't know what else could go in that space in my brain, but probably something much more practical

English - Well, I mean, at least I hope so, since I'll be teaching it to high school kids within the next 2 years or so. That said, I do appreciate someone who knows their grammar and spelling. I try not to be a Nazi about it, but it's just one of my pet peeves.

The first things people usually notice about me

I honestly have no idea. I'm kind of just that girl next door. The one you never notice until either a) you fall in love with her (music swells, fade out, roll credits), OR b) she goes batshit and kills somebody.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

books - Invisible Monsters, On the Road, anything by Roald Dahl, John Dies at the End... I like comic books and graphic novels, mostly X-men, but I'm into some other stuff as well, like Neil Gaiman and Art Spiegelman, and I'm sure when I have more money, I'll be able to more fully delve into that world. I think Steve Martin is a pretty good writer, in addition to all of his other talents. Also, I just started a cannonball read (that's 100 books in a year), so suggestions are generally appreciated.

movies - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (my most favorite movie ever), Dirty Dancing, Princess Bride, Royal Tenenbaums, the whole Alien franchise, Miyazaki (I think Spirited Away was my favorite of his so far, or maybe Howl's Moving Castle); I love musicals, and I'm not ashamed of it. I like kids' movies too, mostly the ones from my own childhood, like Land Before Time (I still have my Littlefoot doll), Follow That Bird, Secret of Nimh, etc. and Christmas movies, most especially Muppet Family Christmas, which is the one where the entire Muppet gang decides to surprise Fozzie's mom at her farmhouse for Christmas, only to arrive and discover that she was going to leave for California and rent the house out for the holidays. But she stays, and they all have a fantastic time, and the Fraggles and the Sesame Street gang show up, and it's really worth watching if you can find it.

music - i like a lot of music, so here's a condensed list. Ryan Adams, Andrew Bird, Elvis Perkins, Amanda Palmer (& Dresden Dolls, obviously), She & Him, the Decemberists, We Are Scientists, Death Cab for Cutie, Rilo Kiley, Regina Spektor, Band of Horses, etc etc. You get the idea: I'm a cute indie girl.

tv - Alias, pretty much anything by Joss Whedon (you know, Buffy & Firefly & all that) , Chuck, The Amazing Race, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, , 30 Rock, What Not to Wear, X-Files, Battlestar Galactica (so far just the new edition; once I finish it, I'll probably check out the original), It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Flight of the Conchords, etc etc etc. I also get sucked into stupid bullshit like Project Runway, America's Next Top Model, American Idol, etc. I won't make you watch it with me, but if you won't watch it, I will make you leave me alone while I do.

food - home cooked stuff like fried chicken and mashed potatoes, chicken & dumplings, beef stew; simple food like macaroni and cheese with hot dogs (not mixed, but together); coney dogs and strawberry limeade from Sonic; and seriously, there is nothing better than a bacon cheeseburger, especially from Red Robin, with a freckled lemonade, or from the Cherry Cricket, with some green chili cheese fries and a rum punch.

The six things I could never do without

Clothes ('cause I'd be naked), my CDs and DVDs (the first thing I'd save in a fire), my dog (he needs me, and that's kind of why I need him), my cell phone (my connection to the outside world), food (not just 'cause I would die, but because I love it... especially a good bacon cheeseburge), my brain (I'd be lost without it. Although, to be honest, I'm kind of lost with it)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Figuring out how to turn around what you just said with "your mom/your face" or "that's what she said"

Possible mixtape playlists. And yes, I know, mixes are made on CD now, but for the rest of my life, I will always call them mixtapes.

Writing the movie screenplay/novelization of my life in my head as it happens

On a typical Friday night I am

Friday nights don't have a routine, so it's whatever comes up first. Hopefully karaoke.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I like to dance around the house in my underwear, shaking my ass and singing along to stupid shit.

Also, I will giggle if you fart. I just can't help myself.

You should message me if

You like music and movies and you're fun to hang with and talk to. I love going to concerts and to the movies, ESPECIALLY the drive ins. I was really sad when they tore down the drive in of my youth to build an apartment complex.
