My self-summary
Hey everyone! I'm new to the city, and although I do have some friends in town, I'm on here to meet some new people, go on some dates, and see what happens.

I love meeting new people of all kinds, but bonus if you can keep up a good conversation.

I used to have a list here of things I like to do (travel, books, cycling, etc), but that doesn't really tell you much about me, its like checking off boxes on a list.

I've recently come back to North America after living in Eastern Europe for a while, so I'm still in some culture shock. I'm starting a new job as a policy analyst, and I'm super hyped.

I like going out, but I'm not a huge drinker (when I do drink, I'm more of a mixed drink than a beer kinda guy), and I'm not really into the mainstream club scene. But give me some good live music, or someone mixing some new wave and I'm generally happy :-)
What I’m doing with my life
Crunching numbers and promoting responsible progressive social policy.
I’m really good at
(according to a friend who I asked to answer this for me)
1. Finding my way around new places.
2. Airline itineraries.
3. Finding cool cafes, bars, restaurants.
4. Integrating 1,2, and 3.
The first things people usually notice about me
I never understood this question. Maybe you should tell me?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
overall, too many to name :-) Just what comes to mind right now:

books:
The History of Love - Nicole Krauss
The Autobiography of Red - Anne Carson
Beautiful Losers - Leonard Cohen
The Cartoon History of the Universe - Larry Gonick
Midnight's Children - Salman Rushdie

Movies:
Many things by Wes Anderson (yeah, I know, he can be quite precious, but I still like it)
Many things by Tim Burton
Many things by John Waters
lots of other stuff too.

Music:
the kind that doesn't suck :-)
The six things I could never do without
I'm not going to list the deep things like "family," "love," or whatever. Yeah, I need those. But here I'm going to be shallow.

1. coffee (seriously, people)
2. contact with friends and family
3. internet access (sadly)
4. coffee (yes, again)
5. while I could do without it, I'd be pretty unhappy if I lost my ipod
6. my glasses. I suppose that trying to function without them would be pretty crappy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I want to make for dinner. What neighborhoods I like best. The balance between ideology and practicality. Exploring cities. Food.
On a typical Friday night I am
with friends. It really depends. Maybe out, maybe at home, mostly chill :-) One of my favorite things is to cook for or with my friends and spend the evening eating and hanging out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
my first crush was Luke Skywalker in A New Hope.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like guys
  • Ages 25–40
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
you want to? Seriously, if you think we have something to talk about, if you want to get coffee, if you think I'm cute, if you don't think I'm cute but want to talk anyway.

I'm also looking for people who speak romanian or who are interested in knitting or other crafts.
