I'm usually fun to be around, or so i hope. I read like my life
depends on it which, to be fair, sometimes it does. I am an animal
lover, but that hasn't made me a vegetarian and i don't see the
conflict in this. I am a cyclist and an amateur train-spotter. I am
involved in semi-professional writing, and anything related to the
monsoon and energy politics. I love the outdoors, and can be found
cycling randomly across Bangalore.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a cyclist. I am also a doctoral candidate (the non-medical
variety) and an energy analyst. I look at the oil and gas sector
and draw inferences from what is happening. When i am not working,
I wonder if a gas pipeline will ever get built between Turkmenistan
and Europe. Life is good. I deal with oil daily, and yet i dont
directly consume any :)
I’m really good at
cycling,train-spotting,day-dreaming,ruthlessly killing time
The first things people usually notice about me
my salt-and-pepper hair and my lean figure. I am probably smiling.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Ah books.... This list would fill a book...
To name a few:
The Oil and the Glory by Steve levine, Krakatoa by simon
The Prize by Daniel Yergin
The Indian Epics Retold by R K Narayan
By and large, i look for style and good language more than a
particular genre. I'll read anything as long as it's
Movies...well, I watch the ones where you dont have to use your
brains much! But then, there are always some worthy of
thought...Cinderella Man,LA Confidential and all tamasha movies of
Jason Statham :)
TV series: This is my territory. I guess that what one does in
university hostels - back-to-back marathon sessions of Mad
Men,Suits,Breaking Bad,Downton Abbey,Arrested Development,
Community, Two and a Half Men...
Music - trance and techno, mohd rafi songs for Dev Anand and Shammi
Kapoor and some brainless bozos of Himesh Reshamiya when i am at
work and need some background 'noise'!
Food - I eat and i eat and then burn it all away. Burgers at
habanero and truffles, lettuce salad i make at home, nandhini
mini-meal,fruits and chips.
The six things I could never do without
My Trek 3700,
I spend a lot of time thinking about
friends,oil and gas,geography,the universe...
On a typical Friday night I am
with some friends on my office terrace, or holding a party at my
place, or at a party at a friend's place, or cycling to my heart's
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
skeletons tumble out under the stars over a glass of scotch.
