My self-summary
I'm 28 years old, planning on eventually attending grad school here at USC next year for museum studies/historic preservation. I graduated from undergrad last year in Anthropology.

I've been bald/shaving my head since 19. I'm sorry if my Nosferatu/Bruce Willis head is a disappointment to your vagina.

I try to be a kind person. Generally speaking, I have a very liberal worldview.

Lots of people say this, but the first time I heard Nirvana, it changed my life.

My favorite subjects to read about tend to be from ancient history. I rarely read fiction.

I'm addicted to podcasts, and listen to them constantly.

Coffee is my drug of choice.

When people use "like" too much, it irritates me beyond words.

I go see lots of live music here in Columbia.

I'm ridiculously good at Jeopardy.

Dogs make me really happy.

I'm inclined to think God is not real. If you do, that is fine, but if you live your life with ritual observance and obeisances of such a thing, we're probably not going to be very compatible.

I dislike dubstep. I think Black Sabbath is the greatest band to ever roam the earth.
What I’m doing with my life
I work at a museum and a library. I also spend a lot of free time doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (submission wrestling - armlocks, chokes, leg locks, etc.)
I’m really good at
I'm a blue belt in brazilian jiu-jitsu. "Good" is a nominal term. I'm pretty good at it for how long I've been training (a few years), but I still get beat up frequently. It is the most addictive thing in the world, as far I've encountered.

I'm really good at Street Fighter and Tekken. I've been told frequently that I write well.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm often told that I'm shaped like an upside-down triangle.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books - slaughterhouse-five, johnny got his gun, lots of things on anthropology/ancient history.

movies - most tarantino movies entertain me to the point of pure glee, star wars, summertime superhero movies, big lebowski, o brother where art thou, the seven samurai, most movies i've seen with toshiro mifune, 28 days later, army of darkness, evil dead, old japanese monster movies from my childhood, i could go on.

music - black sabbath, the smiths, depeche mode, deftones, nirvana, black flag, converge, cave-in, bad brains, johnny cash, faith no more, the first few oasis albums, ryan adams, nick cave and the bad seeds, minor threat, slayer, portishead, metallica from 81-91 when they weren't embarrassing, sepultura, bolt thrower, joy division, drudkh, power trip, harms way, slowdive, pearl jam's first few records, dillinger escape plan, nine inch nails, kyuss, napalm death, isis, godflesh, merchandise, the stone roses, i could go on. pretty diverse - 80s thrash metal to 80s/90s brit pop, to hardcore and punk rock to folk/americana, etc. etc.

shows - game of thrones, louie, dexter before it started to fall off in the last few years, vice travel guide, curb your enthusiasm, seinfeld, its always sunny in philadelphia

food - pretty much anything, i'm adventurous.
The six things I could never do without
-other people. i often think about living a solitary life, and how great it would be, but in reality i would probably be very miserable after only a few months.

-human affection

-nutella

-brazilian jiu-jitsu. the very thought of my life without it makes me sad.

-mixed martial arts/UFC. actually, i'm sure i could live without it, but i follow it pretty closely, it's the only sport i care about.

-being able to shave my beard when i get tired of having one, as it grows pretty fast.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to maintain a certain level of happiness/contentment in spite of the possibility of suffering that can typify the human condition.

i promise, i'm not a humorless person.
On a typical Friday night I am
Maybe at judo practice. Maybe at home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
A few things....

I have a desire to do stand-up comedy, but i have pretty terrible stage fright.

I'm pretty hairy. Not at the Robin Williams-level, but its still more than average and should just be mentioned. I'm beyond caring enough to groom extensively.

You think I might be someone worth talking to. you know what a kimura and an arm triangle are. And you don't mind a little cauliflower ear.
