mathematical, logical, and optimistic

My self-summary Propose an edit

I am an optimist. I am a firm believer that life works out in the end. However, I am not religious. I just like to keep a positive outlook on things even if I worry about insignificant, uncontrollable things just like anyone else. Life is what we make it.

Beneath it all, I am a naturalist. I love being outdoors - hiking, camping, walking and enjoying the sights, etc. However, I am still a complete slave to the computer being a programmer by trade. That being said, I don't feel like I get out into the thick of things as often as I'd like.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

I recently became a video game developer, which has been fun as far as a career goes. Specifically, I am a programmer. The hours are sometimes intense and the pay is good but not nearly as good if I were to work for Microsoft on lame stuff like Microsoft Excel, hah. I often think about the the idea of joining their ranks and also the idea of making a bunch more money in the process.

Just recently, I started looking at condos and townhouses. I can't get over how expensive real estate is out here in Seattle. Back in Kansas City, KS (where I am originally from), houses are generally a half to a third of the price of comparably sized places here. Looks like it'll be a while before I can afford anything too grandiose. My mind's ideal home is surrounded by a great deal of greenery and has many large picture windows.

I'm really good at Propose an edit

Dreaming in color. Hah, I'm not going to boast anything here because they say humility is a virtue so I think instead I'll just list the things that I enjoy doing instead. Those things would include skiing and snowboarding, solving problems, playing video games of course, going for hikes, camping, and trying to keep organized as well as on the ball. I'm a person that makes lists.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

I hope the first thing people notice about me is that I'm a good listener. I like to keep a conversation going so often that means I like to ask a lot of life questions to get to know somebody.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

Books: Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, Harry Potter, Lord of the Flies, I tend to really enjoy stories from Sherman Alexie.

Movies: Babel, The Big Lebowski, City of God, High Fidelity, Ong Bak, Pan's Labyrinth, Pulp Fiction, Smoke Signals.

Music: I've become a huge fan of Last.Fm and I regularly listen to it while I'm at work. I've found some really cool new music through it. I've got a wide range of music tastes which is usually a signal for disaster, but I tend to think I'm well-versed. Some of my traditional favorites include: Air, The Beatles, Beck, Ennio Morricone, Jim Croce, Jimi Hendrix, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Muse, Nirvana, Norah Jones, Pink Floyd, Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, The Strokes, Yoko Kanno.

Food: Mexican, Japanese (Sushi), Thai, Pho, Bubble Tea.

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

I often think to myself how I could cope with almost nothing. The idea sounds romantic to me. I wonder how interesting it could be to be stranded on an island. Surely, it would be mostly terrible without food, dealing with the unbearable heat, the lack of clean drinking water, etc. But it does sound just so fantastic in my mind.

Back to reality though, the things that I've grown so accustomed to that I don't think I could "live" without would probably be a cell phone, Google Maps, a wide variety of exotic and delicious foods, my car, a writing utensil and paper so I can write or draw.

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

What my buddies and I would do in the event of a zombie invasion. We discuss hypothetically where the best place to go would be. Everyone always picks the mall, but there are by far too many open spaces at a mall.

As for more serious issues, I often think about the future and what he holds for me. I often think about my job and what I could be doing to be better at it. I think about increasing my own efficiency way beyond what I actually accomplish.

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

Scheming to find new and fun things to do with friends, playing games, seeing movies, and trying to live life to the fullest (even if it often gets away from me).

I just finished a mandatory 60 hour work week schedule so I'm no longer slaving away late into a Friday night.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I tend to over-analyze everything so you could say that I'm a bit of a worrier. Part of me fights stridently for simplicity while the other part frantically tries to collect and analyze every little bit of data that it can.
