My self-summary Propose an edit
I have a certain uncanny, visceral desire to be near the ocean that drew me to
California from my inland home in the mountains last May. Aside
from my weird desire to be near the sea and eat raw fish, coming to
California has been a great move for my career. I'm currently doing
neuroscience
research for UC
Davis and I love it!
I adore dogs--Something about their loyal,
authentic, and
often optimistic manner really endears them
to me.
Are you ready to go a little deeper? Alright let's talk a bit about
some of my beliefs: I think that our American culture has a lot of
arbitrary rules that can confine us, social constructs that place
limits on our individuality and prevent us from reaching our full
potential. Things like gender, trends, fashion, and religion--the
concepts themselves are not inherently bad but they should not
dictate who you are.
I prefer a less judgmental, more loving atmosphere
We are so insignificant in the eyes of this vast universe, yet to
ourselves we are the universe. What can we do about this ironic
predicament but laugh?
Enough philosophizing; bring on the shameless self promotion!

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
Graduated with my BS from the University of Idaho in May. Got a
nice job doing neuroscience research at UC Davis shortly after. I
hope to be a university prof. someday, set up my own lab, get that
tenure, grow a big bushy beard, and scare the incoming freshmen.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
Apparently I have an artist's vibe. Guys will come up to me and ask
if I am an art student and swear they've seen me in their film
class or something like that.
Or perhaps I have a clone O_O
But which is the evil one?
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
I'm a sucker for sci-fi anything; I'm into shows like Firefly, STNG, and Battlestar Galactica (the
most recent rendition, of course) and movies like Blade Runner and The Fifth
Element.
I can get equally excited over fantasy--my recent favorites are the
His Dark
Materials and Harry Potter series.
I've also never met a Mel Brooks movie I didn't love
For some reason people seem to think I'd be into anime, which I am
not with the exception of Myazaki films. I also fancy artistic
visuals, such as those found in the movie MirrorMask
As far as music goes, I'll listen to anything with a good beat. I'm
actually really exploring music and broadening my musical horizons
right now so feel free to suggest things.
For food I like anything I haven't tried. I like variety. A great
way to woo me is to cook for me.

This marvelous thing called life. What makes living things alive? What
makes us human? I'm very curious about the human brain. Also, very,
very tiny things (cells, molecules, atoms).
