What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Strictly in a career sense: right now I work for the family business. It's a challenge but I figure that in the end I'm fortunate to get to spend the majority of my days with my family. Our business is in the manufacturing sector which is a very challenging place to survive right now in our economy and it's difficult to determine where the opportunities will lie in the future. Day-to-day I'm involved on the management side of things. I really enjoy designing and implementing systems to improve what we do and how we do it. Making change and reaping the benefits of good change. My long term goals are to get my MBA. I'm currently researching schools and building my application.

Outside of work you say? I love to go back-country camping. My family has a cottage in Algonquin Park and it's a great jumping off point for small back-country trips. Nothing is quite as satisfying as a good bath in the forest. A lot of people can't understand why I would want to paddle and portage all my gear just to sleep on the ground when I have a perfectly good cottage. It is these people that I don't understand. I also like to travel, I've been to Istanbul and India which opened my eyes to the world beyond Western civilization, now I just want to see it all. Coupled with hiking and camping I'd like to go see some of the remote and beautiful places this Earth has to offer.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Jack of all trades, master of some? I don't know, am I supposed to brag here?
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
This is an odd question. I've never asked anyone what they first notice.

I like new food! I like trying new things and dabble in a little bit of cooking. My mainstays are fresh vegetables and good protein. I like the idea of paleo-, but I still eat grains. I just try to make better choices, more and more frequently. (Puts down the doughnut) Recent discovery Dal Bhakura!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The people I love.
The pets I love.
Ok, my laptop.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
'Why?' I think a lot about why we are here and what we should be doing. It is a challenge to find purpose in all of the day-to-day chaos without a good understanding of this. I like to believe we get to give life whatever meaning we want. Yet at the same time I think as a minimum we should all strive to leave this world a little better than it was given to us. In this way I'm still seeking a bit of who I am and how I'm going to fit into this puzzle. I'm not sure that ever ends though?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either driving to the cottage or driving out of town to see friends. When I can I like to take a Friday off to focus on fitness, health and happiness. Find a good documentary on Netflix and keep the couch from moving. It would be nice to have some good discussion to accompany!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a big nerd.
