My self-summary
Soooo glad 2013 is o-v-e-r! Lots of "growth opportunities" last year but I'm unscathed and clearer about my career and personal priorities. I like exploring, trying new things, whether it's food, photography, road or mtn biking (still getting back in shape after a nasty fall last month), museums, arts. I'm terrible with routines. Like to banter and am affectionate/playful. I like transforming raw ingredients into something else--baking, practical woodworking projects (own a portable table saw), am generally handy. Aesthetics are important.

I have an independent streak. I feel comfortable in my own skin, warts, bumps, and all. I'm not looking for someone to complete me but rather an intrepid traveler (of the emotional and geographical kind) to share experiences...share life with. I hope it's you.

Favorite quotes:
"Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage."
—Anaïs Nin (1903-1977)
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." —Dr. Seuss
"Every Life needs a little space. It leaves room for good things to enter." (unknown)
"To begin is easy, to persist is art." German proverb
"Education is learning what you didn't even know you didn't know." Daniel J. Boorstein
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to cycle home from work sev times a week--way better than going to the gym. I enjoy exploring, planning dinner parties, hikes and, of course, being spontaneous. I don't feel the need to change the world or make a mark. I try to be fully present/engaged at work, helping people--that's where I can make a difference...today. When I volunteer, I usually do manual labor---I get "peopled-out". I'm always looking for new experiences. I have an evolving bucket list. I like getting lost.
I’m really good at
Parallel parking, eating gelato, driving in reverse (someone asked me once, if I'd been a taxi driver), making desserts, finding new recipes, cutting my own hair, helping others with projects (team work), interior design, getting my hands dirty and then cleaning up for a nice evening, asking deeper questions.
The first things people usually notice about me
It has never occurred to me to ask.....however, several weeks ago, a crotchety old patient (with whom I ended up getting along really well) suddenly blurted out..."you come across as really proper but you aren't at all. You're a lot of fun and playful....you're rather unconventional, you know that, don't you?"......so there you have it.....And I would agree.

"Other Category"--there's almost nothing better than a P-51 or Blue Angels low flyby over the strip......ahhhhhh!
The six things I could never do without
Sleep, my lap top, creative outlets, friends, a library, hardware store, exploring/curiosity, sense of humor, touching.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
New hikes and food-related themes......Different ways to try to get into shape...How we create our own reality...How nice it would be to share my latest discovery with a boyfriend...Downsizing...My priorities...Aperture setting on my new camera...Healthier recipes...Remembering to WATER THE FLOWERS, NOT THE WEEDS (literally and figuratively).

I don't spend time thinking about my headstone inscription or legacy.
On a typical Friday night I am
No "typical": may get together w/friends, veg out, go to a lecture, try a new recipe, watch a movie, sit in the hot tub, read...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Not THE most private thing but I like heart-felt sex. Never have been a casual sex kinda gal--I've tried.
