My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a mid 40's, hard working self employed type. My work day usually starts when I hit the ground in the morning and lasts through most of the day. I used to travel quite a bit & play too little. Over the last year I have dramatically curbed by travel and now I am looking to spend time with someone.

I am a very goal driven individual. I have worked in the same industry for close to 20 years. Even so I continue to strive to improve my skills and those of my peers.

I have a near paralyzing fear of public speaking. Yet somehow I have found a way to live with it given that I speak to dozens of groups a year and each and every time I am on the verge of panic when I reach the podium and through the entire event. I am still not sure how I have accomplished this, but it works.

I enjoy a good movie be it science fiction, action, drama, history, etc..., but not so much horror movies. Last year I added a projector and a couple of cushy sofas to stretch out on. If you like cuddling up for movies but hate the sticky floors and rude patrons at the theater then we should chat.

I think what is coursing through my veins must include some measure of BBQ sauce and high test gasoline, for I am drawn to local BBQ joints and cars and trucks of many types. There are only a two states in the lower 48 that I have not driven to or in. There are some stunning vistas out there visible from the road! As to BBQ, it would seem that the diversity of styles is highest in the Carolinas and variations in style drop off fast outside of our region. The west coast is just plain sad.

Hey, I am in my mid 40's! Like everyone else my age I have some history, without which I would not be the person I am today. I look at my past as something which has tempered me in many ways, encouraging improvements both strength and flexibility, being empathetic, perhaps a bit of insight or wisdom along the way.

I am looking for an exceptional woman who is independent, comfortable in her own skin, someone who knows that two together are often greater than the sum of the two alone. A college graduate and someone who has been steady in her career
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My particular industry is very young with few established standards for education or professional codes of conduct for delivery. Imagine if anyone could wake up in the morning and hang out a shingle that says "electrician." That would be pretty close to the challenges my industry faces.

I am looking to change that model so that members of my profession have a higher chance of success in their chosen field of work and so customers are ensured of high value from members of the profession. This pursuit is what keeps me busy most days, either in the direct delivery of services, writing, responding to questions from peers or participating in industry forums.

In last 2012 I started a podcast with an industry peer. We now have over 15000 subscribers worldwide and a now self-supporting model with advertising. It's been a surprising ride. In the coming year we're looking at eBook production which is both terrifying and exciting.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am very good at solving complex problems with lots of moving parts. I find it easy to visualize the architecture of a problem, distill from that the core of the problem and then find, establish a hypothesis as to the nature of the problem and then find a way to test against that hypothesis.

In parallel to the techy side above, I am very good at grounding the problems and the solutions I find to non technical people, using abstract thought to draw analogies to the problems and the solutions in common place objects and processes which would be familiar to non technical people. This communication skill has served me well over the years.

Mostly what I read these days is work related, very techy material for the IT profession. For social reading I prefer biographies and science fiction.

Music? I tend for classic rock and acoustic rock. If you are a fan of the coffee house channel on Sirius then you understand my tastes.

Movies: Action Adventure, Science Fiction, Drama/Suspense in that order. Not really a fan of horror movies. I prefer cuddling up on the sofa at home versus heading to the movie theater.

Food. Yes, I like food. Super hot doesn't appeal to me, but I do like moderately spicy for almost all cuisines. I tend to avoid organ foods like liver, kidney, tongue, brains, etc... The whole concept of that just is unpleasant.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to improve both the actual value and the perception of value that my industry has to our customers. Actual and perceived value have been dropping in the last decade due to a hug influx of untrained/unskilled people into the discipline. How can this trend be reversed before no one wants to hire anyone in my field? My work as a mentor, a podcaster and author within the coming year support this work
