I like to read literature, non-fiction, biographies, history, politics, science, etc. I am generalist, but admire people who are focused on one particular area - they are great sources of learning for the generalist.
I prefer personal conversations in small groups, say one or two, and preferably while walking outside. That is probably why I've taken so long to write this somewhat general summary on a public website.
I just read Anne Lamott’s piece on Salon.com about how she tried Match.com for a year. She says, like many profiles, she was grateful for all the wonderful things she has - yadda, yadda, yadda - but she is now ready for that intimate someone to speak with and share her daily trials and concerns; someone to text for no pressing reason; someone to watch t.v. or a movie with; someone to wake up with in the morning; someone to read with in bed at night; someone to share the ordinary and hopefully bring in a few moments of the extraordinary! I'm pretty sure I wrote that last line, but it was Lamott inspired.
