My self-summary
I'm a musician, and I'd say that pretty much influences a lot of how I live my life -- I travel a lot, I'm often excited about some new music project, and I thrive on things that inspire me.

born in Brooklyn, raised in NJ, left for a while to live and study in the mid-west (Ohio), came back east 15 years ago and have been living in NYC since. Nursing dreams of turning my back on this crazy Northeast Corridor existence in favor of a different crazy existence in Rio or maybe Tokyo or maybe someplace else. Though I challenge anyone to stand in the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge on a beautiful day and not love this city.
What I’m doing with my life
making music. I play guitar -- classical, experimental, rock, jazz... -- but I also am involved with recording a lot, I own and run a small independent record label, and when I can carve out some time, I write my own music.
I’m really good at
honesty, seeing all sides of a situation, focusing on one side of a situation, adapting, navigating new transit systems
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm really not sure...I know that I usually notice the first thing people notice about me, and it always tells me a lot about them. So maybe they are noticing me noticing things about them.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Haruki Murakami, Milan Kundera, Wallace Stegner, James Baldwin, Nadine Gordimer, Italo Calvino, Arundhati Roy, Ian McEwan, Heschel, Buber, Salman Rushdie, Vonnegut.
film - Coen Bros, Almodovar, Hitchcock, Bergman.
Music is hard for me to narrow down... spend a lot of time with Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Coltrane, Nina Simone, Zeppelin, Ali Akbar Khan, Kishori Amonkar, Miles Davis, Bill Frisell, Red House Painters/Sun Kil Moon, Magnolia Electric Company, early Genesis, Toumani Diabate, Bruce Springsteen, Ella, Joni Mitchell, Dire Straits.

food: baklava and all of its cousins. Indian, Japanese, and Thai cuisine. Penne and broccoli rabe with sausage in a garlic and oil sauce.
The six things I could never do without
a guitar, honest people, the ocean, mystery,
intuition, public radio
I spend a lot of time thinking about
beauty, inspiration, justice/injustice, creativity, rhythm, my next gig, how if everyone in the US meditated the world would be a much better place. how if I meditated more I might think the US was a better place and a worse place.
On a typical Friday night I am
maybe playing a gig or going to hear a friend perform or looking for the perfect Jameson on the rocks. Even though they all taste the same.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I think Phil Collins is a good songwriter
You should message me if
