My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I enjoy life on many different levels. There's one side of me that loves the arts and the more intellectual matters in life. And then there is the athletic side of me that has been involved in team and individual sporting activities my entire life. I love the outdoors; the lovely New England seacoast and the great wintertime ski slopes. But I also love all of the great cities for cultural adventures, restaurants, and excitement!!!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I recently moved back to the east coast after being "out west" for many years.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Skiing, photography, soccer, tennis, buying wine (almost always rosso :), swimming, diving (SCUBA), cycling, trail running, and frequenting great restaurants.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smile and my style :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Sooooooooooo many!!! Hemingway, John Irving, David Sedaris, Ken Burns, Tom Robbins, D.H. Lawrence, Randall Jarrell, Robert Lowell, Hitchcock, Kurosawa, Fellini, P.T. Anderson, Wes Anderson, PBS, NPR, the NFL, Frontline, Nova, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Curb Your Enthusiasm. Love Jazz, Rock (more pop than heavy metal), the symphony, bluegrass (but please, no modern "flag-waving" country!!!). Love Italian, French, Mexican, Spanish, Indian, Cajun, Creole, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese... pretty much all food (I've had the great fortune to travel extensively; wonderful!) Oh, and all with great wine!!!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Skiing, the ocean (for diving, swimming, sailing, etc.), sunshine, the arts, laughter, and great red wine from all over the world (well, technically I could live without red wine, but it would be a fairly miserable existence!).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My next ski trip, future travel, politics, human rights, the future of the U.S., global warming (and HOW IN THE WORLD SOOOO MANY COMPLETE BOOBS DENY THE EXISTENCE THEREOF?!!!), and cinema.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Relaxing with a Martini, and treating myself to a great meal after a long (and sometimes stressful) week... GREAT! ;-)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I really do not spend much time on the couch, or in front of a television. But I LOVE watching the NFL, the Red Sox, and oddly enough, all of the great PGA tournaments (especially The Masters!). And I'm not even an avid golfer (it's just perfect for napping ;.)

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You would never identity yourself as being politically conservative, would never spend more than approx. five seconds watching any FOX news programming (i.e., you would watch it as long as it takes to recognize their pathetic, fear-mongering, ignorant, race-baiting, flag-waving, pious, sanctimonious, hypocritical rants as being precisely such and switch the channel to programming of value), would never express prejudice, bigotry, or any of the teachings of “race supremacy” (and agree that the “Stars and Bars” [i.e., the Confederate Battle Flag] is an obvious totem for the descendants of a gang of racist, traitorous, loser thugs, and therefore exists solely as a national disgrace). You never voted for George W. Bush, and understand that the two administrations he helmed caused damage (both domestic and international) that will require decades to repair, if indeed said damage is repairable. Oh, and you are entirely convinced that Dick “The Dick” Cheney should be tried for (and therefore convicted of) War Crimes.

On the other hand, you should message me if you rightfully identify the two recent SCOTUS rulings re: The Affordable Care Act and Same Sex Marriage as courageous, and compassionate, and achieving the desired effect of improving the lives of millions of Americans while only detracting from the inhumane, cynical, paranoid, despicable agendas of the same right-wing nut jobs that have, for years, defended policies that seemingly exist only to spread anger, fear, superstition, and hatred. The same agendas that only cause grave damage to a country that is already reeling from years of cold-hearted budget cuts that amount to a very thinly-veiled attempt to eliminate the American middle-class and establish some sort of Serfdom (essentially succeeding in converting the U.S.A. into a third-world country). A caveat to those that would wish it so: As goes the middle class of the United States, so goes the United States. The middle class is the back-bone of “this great experiment”, and should be protected against all enemies (both foreign and domestic). Are you listening Donny Trump, you unrepentant asshole? I LOVE what Jon Stewart has been doing to him on the latest Daily Shows, and that Univision is breaking ties with his Evil Empire! How about you, NBC? The world is watching!

So you may be thinking: “Wow, this guy identifies himself as a “Centrist” in his profile prose… jeez, his rants sound pretty damn “left-wing” to me!!!” Actually, I do consider myself to be quite moderate, and remain a registered independent. And I voted for the GREAT and BEAUTIFUL Jim Jeffords in EVERY election that he ever entered. Gosh, do we ever miss you, Jim!!! Yes, a moderate. But not willing (for one millisecond) to stand idly by and watch this country being sullied by purveyors of religious tyranny, wage discrimination, out-sourcing, labor bashing, and reality television (that crap is just plain depressing!!!). Okay, rant over… 

Quickly, a few of my “druthers”:

1. I am NOT, repeat NOT, interested in commencing a lengthy, virtual, e-lationship in which the other party demonstrates zero interest in ever meeting each other “face-to-face”. They may maintain that it is their objective, but then comes the seemingly never ending litany of e-mails/ texts/ tweets/phone calls/smoke signals and never involve the sharing of drinks/dinners/smiles/laughs/kisses/etc that are part in parcel of a, mmm, what’s that word again? Oh yeah, “RELATIONSHIP”!!! Please respect my desires in this area and do not initiate if our respective “modus operandae” are incompatible. If this seems overly harsh, or judgmental, I will explain that the vast majority of OKC subscribers seem to have little-zero interest in ever meeting another person. Trust me, it is extraordinarily well-documented!

2. I know, this is going to sound very picayune, but here goes: There is a question in the Q & A section that asks (and I paraphrase): “Which superpower would you choose to possess: Invisibility or Flight?” Honestly, the choice of “Invisibility” gives me pause. Why would anyone wish to be invisible? It certainly didn’t go well for Claude Rains! Besides, if you think that the online process sucks as is, imagine the difficulties you would endure if you could not be seen (really brings the “No pic, no reply” requirement to a whole new level!!! ;.)

3. Please, no Eastern Europeans or Africans. I have nothing against those regions (have had GREAT times in both areas), but my airline miles just aren’t what they used to be!

4. And speaking of airlines (nice segue, no?): “Peanut Vendors of the Sky” (Flight Attendants) need not apply. Having to endure their smug, rude behavior while travelling is unavoidable; having to tolerate such petulant B.S. in my private life is unacceptable.

Finally, best wishes to all (yes, even the “Stews”). Please accept that this process is entirely subjective, and we should all get what we desire (even if we don’t get what we deserve ;.)

Warmth and Smiles,
