I am honest, independent, and creative.

My Self-Summary

I'm nice.
I'm not at all flighty.
I'm usually pretty happy.

I finished a BA in English a few years ago at McMaster - now I spend most of my time running my teeny "business" where I make things and sell them on etsy.com, in a few diy/indie craft stores in the states, art shows, craft fairs, etc. I love it and rarely notice how much I work. Which is a lot.

I like music and books a more than average amount. Movies too but I don't go out to them enough.
Art/Books/Movies/Music are a big part of my life - I'm a credited "lyric editor" so if you need some help writing some songs - I need to figure out how to do that more often without just dating musicians for the rest of my life.

I'm pretty independent. Alone time doesn't frighten me.
But I like to hang out and I like fun times too.

What I’m doing with my life

Working.

I moved around a lot when I was a kid so I don't consider anywhere my hometown. It would be nice to feel settled. I'm not sure if Hamilton is it - but my family is here which is enough right now. I think about both moving and staying a lot.

I’m really good at

A few things here and there.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I look like a nice girl with dimples and I'm probably smiling. But not in a dumb way.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: The Oxford English Dictionary, The Diviners by Margaret Lawrence, Mansfield Park by Jane Austen, Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood, Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Coraline by Neil Gaiman, the Harry Potters (much to my chagrin), The Corporation by Joel Bakan, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf, Norton Anthologies of Literature (preferably later editions) and loads of poetry (Hardy, Neruda, Cohen, Dickinson, Bronte, Plath, etc.). I like stream of consciousness stuff or different sorts of experimental writing too. I like words in general.

Music: Cat Power, Feist, The Beatles, Tori Amos, The Zombies, Bat for Lashes, Iron and Wine, Donovan, David Bowie, Arcade Fire, Midlake, Rio En Medio, Ray Charles, Led Zeppelin, Simon and Garfunkel, Queen, Devendra Banhart, My Morning Jacket, Leonard Cohen, Goldfrapp, Washington Phillips, Mum, Micheal Jackson, Portishead, Radiohead, Magnetic Fields, The Kinks, Otis Redding, The Clash, Francoise Hardy, Phoenix, Irma Thomas, Joanna Newsom, The Smiths, Regina Spektor, Nico Case, Sigur Ros, R.E.M., Broken Social Scene, Belle and Sebastian, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Sam Prekop, Margo Guryan, The Books, Beck, Beirut, Prince, Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Five Stairsteps, Three Dog Night, Nina Simone, Love, Sufjan Stevens, Blonde Redhead, Bjork, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Turtles, T-Rex, Joni Mitchell...
Lots of random 60s and 70s stuff, psych-folk, some IDM, tropicalia, anything interesting/pretty, I like banjo in most things. Anyway, a lot of different stuff.

Movies: The Science of Sleep, Vertigo, High Fidelity, Secretary, Darjeeling Limited, Amelie, Ghost World, Sixteen Candles or any of John Hughes' movies before Curly Sue, Safe, Stranger Than Fiction, Wizard of Oz, White Christmas, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Little Miss Sunshine, Donnie Darko, Big Fish, Groundhog Day, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Sound of Music, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Mary Poppins, Wings of Desire, Clue, The Labyrinth, The Double Life of Veronique, Dirty Dancing, The Conversation, Modern Times, etc.

Food: Japanese, Italian, Indian, various other goodies...

The six things I could never do without

Music, something good to read, thought/creativity, my family, someone or group of someones to talk to and get it, hugs

I would prefer not to live without a few select other things but I suppose I could go without a lot if it really came down to it.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Various projects; what to make or what to write.

What I'm doing. What I will do.

On a typical Friday night I am

Working, out with a friend, sleeping. I don't have a regular schedule for anything.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Not a whole lot.

You should message me if

you think we'll have something to say to each other.
