I am eclectic, fun-loving, and playful.

My Self-Summary

In a nutshell, I'm the type who works as hard as she plays. I'm hardworking, ambitious, and geeky by day. But once I punch out for the day, I like to sit back and relax. I always enjoy a good happy hour!

Hard working, ambitious, smart, with a sense of humor that ranges from dry, to dark, to just plain weird.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm trying to enjoy it as much as possible!

I like to travel. I am working on travel plans for New Year's 2010, to either Paris or Finland. I also want to visit Argentina or Thailand in the near future. When I can't take a big trip, I'll go on weekend camping trips, go "down the shore," or take a quick jaunt out of town to visit friends.

I have a 9-5 office job, in internet media. I like what I do, it suits me. I work in a very social industry. Lots of great people. But it can be stressful, too. It's very fast paced. Things change about the industry every day. But I think that's why I like it.

I also teach a class at one of the local universities. It's great fun - college kids make me laugh....

When I'm not doing those things, you might find me playing volleyball, ultimate frisbee, tennis (I really want to take lessons this fall), or out on a bike ride. I like to read, camp, hike, and cook (I make a bangin' chili). I have a grill the size of a small car....and yes, I know how to use it....

I’m really good at

Grilling on my BBQ (always looking for new recipes - care to share?)

Finding fun activities to do, esp. if they're out of the blue....like going on an impromptu picnic, skinny dipping in the moonlight, or having a snowball fight on a snowy day.

Trip planning (I'm still working on New Year's!)

Gardening - I'm currently trying to figure out how to maintain a year round outdoor garden.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes.
My smile.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell, Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan, What Would Google Do by Jeff Jarvis, etc. I could list several more! I really like reading.

Movies: Fargo (or anything by the Coen brothers), Twilight, Milk (Sean Penn is amazing), Star Wars (I have a lifelong obsession with the series).

Music: Massive Attack, Pixies, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Radiohead, Gorillaz, the Dandy Warhols, Thievery Corporation, Spiritualized, PBJ, J-Boogie's Dubtronic Science, Portishead, the Boo Radleys, Jane's Addiction, Air, MGMT, etc.

Jazz is an art I've been meaning to explore.

I grew up on classical. I played the French horn for 11 years. While I really appreciate the classical music genre, I find that it is too rigid for my tastes. I would have been better off playing a more diverse instrument, like percussion or something, so that I could have gone back and forth from classical, to jazz, to, well, whatever I wanted! But I truly appreciate the musical background.

The six things I could never do without

Toothbrush.
Laptop.
iPhone.
My mother's jewelery box.
My collection of old family photos.
Passport.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What I want to do when I grow up....

On a typical Friday night I am

I find "typical" to be boring.
