My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a freelance journalist who would see the world if given the chance. I love writing, learning new things, exploring new places and meeting new people. I am the reigning queen of Cards Against Humanity, dedicated road cyclist, and easing myself back into gaming. I'm easy to talk to, and I try way too hard to be funny. I'll try almost anything once.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I recently graduated with a bachelors in journalism, political science, and gender studies at UW Madison.

Now that I've graduated, I hope to eventually for public radio, local or national. If that doesn't work out, I may consider going to grad school.

In addition to being a journalist, I'm also writing a lot of long-form novel-ish fiction, and it would matter to me whether or not someone takes this aspect of my life seriously.

I'm training to become a competitive road cyclist, and typically go on a 40-50 mile stint at least twice a week in spring. If you're also a dedicated cyclist, we already have something in common!

Looking for love? Haha.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing, supposedly. It's what my livelihood depends on (which is terrifying the more I think about it).

I'm definitely good at laughing at every pun ever. Or just laughing at anything remotely funny in general. It's very easy to make me laugh, you should try it sometime.

I also have a lot of great stories related to my experiences as a journalist. Being an effective storyteller is something I (have to) practice everyday.

I love having conversations concerning weird, hypothetical, and/or philosophical topics. I can talk for hours about sci-fi concepts and ideas, but will also be up for anything weird to watch/read/play.

I'm also really good at making friends, I guess? I'm an ENFP. I am a quietly extroverted person, though, and almost all of my friends are introverts, if this kind of stuff matters to you.

Cycling. I will get up early in the morning to take very long rides and then nap like a hibernating bear afterwards. I would love to meet someone who can co-ride long distances, and partake in protein binges.

Being open to trying new things; new places, movies, books, food, ideas, new trails to ride. Life is about the journey, one I would prefer to be long and winding.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Probably the blonde hair, gregarious personality, and sunny disposition. I think I've already said how easy it is to make me laugh.

The semi-abridged version:

Books: A lot of sci-fi: Rupetta by NA Sulway is the most recent book I've read. Ancillary Justice, 1Q84, The Left Hand of Darkness, Enchanted Life of Adam Hope, all the Harry Potter, and particularly good graphic novels. Craig Thompson is a favorite.

Movies: Blade Runner, Forrest Gump, Cloud Atlas, the Matrix, Star Wars, The Fifth Element, Amelie, Chocolat, most foreign films, Studio Ghibli anything, though I don't really have that much time for movies lately. The last movie I saw was 12 Years a Slave, which destroyed me.

Shows: I've been a longtime fan of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, Scrubs is a favorite, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, and plan on watching Brooklyn Nine Nine. I've seen a lot of classic Twilight Zone, and am a casual fan of Star Trek, and various sci-fi themed anime. I'm a huge fan of documentaries, like Nova, Nature, or the series Planet Earth.

Video Games: Mass Effect(s), KOTOR(s), Metroid Prime(s), Portal(s), Twilight Princess, several versions of Pokemon, Assassin's Creed, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Unreal Tournament. Plan on playing: Shadow of the Colossus, Skyrim, and Deus Ex once I'm finished with this student life.

Music: Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead, Stars, Daft Punk, The Shins, Passion Pit, The Postal Service, Horse Feathers, Alison Krauss and the Union Station, and a lot of dubstep (MonsterCat, anyone?), ambient music, and so much folk. I'm trying my best not to be a hipster. I can listen to classical for hours, especially Debussy.

Food: When I say 'Asian food', I really do mean any dish originating from the continent of Asia. I've eaten jellyfish, if that shows you how sincere I am. I also love guacamole to the point that it scares me. After a bike ride, I can and will eat almost anything protein.

Outdoors: Cycling, on and off road, long distance and multi-terrain: you're into it that's a big plus. Also hiking, rollerblading, swimming, romping around in general. I want to get into backpacking and kayaking.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My Dropbox account (where all my writing is), iTunes/some access to music, my book collection, cycling gear, a cup of coffee in the morning, and a decent internet connection.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Science fiction? Journalism ethics? Subverting global patriarchy? Gender fluidity? How to save the world? Transhumanism? The future? Racism/oppression? Cycling? Where my life is headed?

Yeah, all that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
If we're being honest here, usually it's a homemade dinner and a movie with friends with drinking involved, especially if the movie is bad. And the movie is usually bad.

If I wasn't busy with life, I'd be out in bars with friends playing Cards Against Humanity and getting down with my bad self. I'm a fun person, I promise.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm writing a book? I'm very serious about it, which is a bad sign on my part.

you've seen me randomly on the sidewalk in Madison! That'd be hella rad. We should do a high-five. Everyone will be jealous.
