My self-summary
occasionally sociable hermit

I grew up in Missouri, then moved to the bay area in 1997 to get my MFA in fine art. I've traveled a bit, but mostly living here has been a bizarre adventure. sometimes debaucherous, but mostly just weird and lively. I'm pretty dug in at this point, so I'll probably just stay for quite a while, but I could definitely see myself moving to more of a woodland setting in the next 5-10 years. or the hills of Los Angeles, but that is another story altogether.
What I’m doing with my life
working part-time and making art full-time.
trying to out-do myself over and over.
being very reclusive and introspective.
thinking about my next move as an artist.
watching a lot of films, reading a lot of art essays and cultural criticism and spacing out a bit.
getting better at making soup.
gathering wood for my wood burning stove.
I’m really good at
painting interdimensional magistrates
laughing at myself
chopping wood
making really weird noises
The first things people usually notice about me
maybe my sizable hands... or perhaps my dulcet tones
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books:
art books mostly, a lot of critical essays on art, film and pop culture, sci-fi (Lem, PKD, Vonnegut) and I try to read all those classic works of literature piled up in my room, but never get far... probably because I am more visual and obsessed with

film:
An American Werewolf in London, John Carpenter's The Thing, Taxi Driver, Vanishing Point, Fight Club, Repo Man, Ingloriuos Basterds, Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, True Romance, Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, Snatch, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Casino, Goodfellas, Mean Streets, 70's exploitation films, most films from the 70s really, Spaghetti Westerns - mostly Leone, cheesy and not-so-cheesy SciFi films, 2001: A Space Odyssey, most of Kubrick's films, my all time favorite being Dr. Strangelove.

music:
a lot drone and dirge, ambient waves, experimental and otherwise.
Melvins, SUNN O))), Boris, Earthless, Electric Wizard, Butthole Surfers, old blues and coutry, John Zorn, Boredoms, CCR, Thee Oh Sees, Dead Milkmen, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Johnny Cash, and a bunch of other stuff I can't think of

tv (on the internet/dvd)
Bobs Burgers, Archer, Louie, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, 30 Rock, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Young Ones, Twin Peaks, Bottom, Black Books, Spaced

food
I make great soup and my own Bulgogi and pickles. I'm addicted to Vietnamese sandwiches and Pho. I try to keep my burger habit down to once a week. I'll go out to eat just about anywhere and order whatever looks good, but I tend to gravitate toward Korean, Vietnamese, traditional English pub food and the aforementioned burger and fries. and tacos. how could I forget the tacos?
The six things I could never do without
painting studio
space and time to myself
coffee and cigarettes
home cooked meals
plants and spiders
my soup pot
I spend a lot of time thinking about
things that don't exist
films that I have seen
films I want to see
how to finish that painting
On a typical Friday night I am
hanging with my favorite developmentally disabled dude (work) or at an art opening, working in the studio, sitting in front of the fire listening to records with my orange cat.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a totally huge celebrity man-crush on Charlie Day. He makes me giggle and feel all warm and fuzzy inside. and if you add Nick Offerman to the mix, I'd be in fuzzy man hilarity heaven.
