My self-summary
I'm horrible about talking about myself. I will try to fill this out later and not sound so lame...just sort of trying to see what this site is all about right now.

Actually I filled the rest out and I stand by my assessment that I am horrible about talking about myself. I'm a shy introvert...if something gets your attention and you want to know more, maybe you think we have a connection, then ask me. I'm a kind person with a good soul, and despite what I have said I like meeting new people. Ask, and I'll tell you. I try my hardest to be as honest and forthright as possible.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm sort of awesome, so I'm kicking ass and taking names. I have a great career, a house, a home, the best dog in the world, wonderful friends, and an awesome family. I'm blessed.
I’m really good at
Most anything that involves the mind. Games. I enjoy chess a lot and do well. I'm a former metalworker and kicked serious ass at that (scars to prove it! ;) ). I also am sort of a big deal at certain video games. And I have a library with many leather-bound books; it smells of rich mahogany. Is this a real question?

Also tactics and airborne operations. I used to be at least. Now I'm both slightly fatter and slightly slower. Huzzah...*sigh*.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm shy. The second closest thing is I'm shy. After that I'm sort of unremarkable looking, which I think is awesome. It either usually takes me a while to not be shy around someone, or I feel comfortable with them really fast. The former is much more the case. After that I'm an open book. Also if I get interested in something or someone I will fire off rapid-fire questions. It can be disconcerting.

I'm incredibly empathetic. My being shy could easily be a defense mechanism for this. I dunno; I haven't thought about it *that* much.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Catcher in the Rye. 1984 is a close second. Hamlet is the best play ever. That covers my literary tastes, though my boy Chuck P. is way up the list and Christopher Moore is no bottom feeder. Also Bernard Cornwell, Imma let you finish but you wrote the best historical fiction of all time!...George R. R. Martin writes good stuff, and I sort of am seriously irritated with Robert Jordan for dying on me before he finished his shit. Frank Herbert is great. I will continue to go on with this list, and I apologize ahead of time.

Oh also House of Leaves. Pound for pound probably the most rewarding and hardest to read book ever, for me at least. It's basically a litmus test of whether or not you have OCD *and* ADHD.

Movies: This is hard for me...I have a lot. Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, Taxi Driver, There Will be Blood, Blackhawk Down, The Last Samurai...Troy even...any of the first three Star Wars. Body of Lies was good. This is seriously hard though, I'm a serial movie watcher and will watch a flick over and over if I like it. To be safe I would say that I adore Ridley Scott. If you watch his films, you can see him progressing through color periods just like Picasso. His "blue phase" in the early 2000's was instrumental for me, as a movie-goer.

Comedy-wise: Old School, Dude Where's my Car, Wedding Crashers, Me Myself and Irene; Anchor Man first and foremost...too many. Half Baked. Anything stupid and genuinely funny, I adore it. Case in Point: My Highness. 'Nuff said.

Back to drama, all of the Godfathers were also good; if you are a Godfather 3 hater stop it. Go back and watch any other movie from that year, and reassess youself- Figure out where that misplaced angst is coming from. Serpico I just saw recently; phenomenal. Heat was brilliant. We live in the age of cinema as much as in the age of information, and I for one appreciate it a lot.

I forgot to give my boy Kevin Smith props. As a native New Jerseyian, it's comedy gold. The later stuff has been hit or miss but I like it for the most part.

Good Will Hunting, Little Man Tate, and Searching for Bobby Fisher were all awesome as well. I think the soundtrack from Good Will Hunting is beautiful.

TV Shows: You didn't ask, OKCupid, but f#$k you, I'm saying it anyhow: Doctor Who is the best. Sherlock was good, though a bit too long in the teeth between seasons. Breaking Bad is great, as is Sons of Anarchy. Game of Thrones is terrific, though it's annoying that everyone is on the bandwagon all of a sudden when I was reading those books years ago (that sounds petulant; I'm actually happy, I just get irritated having to explain the differences between the show and the books). I think that show was incredibly well cast, though, especially Daenerys.
The six things I could never do without
Food.
Water.
Shelter.
Medicine.
A weapon of some sort
My dog and family and air (that's cheating but work with me...it's a nonsensical question and it's pretty much answered by high school biology, at least for the most part...also I added air because of other people's profiles so I cheated but I'm not giving up my dog, family, or any of the other stuff on this list so suck it) .
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. Seriously though...I come into contact with something slightly interesting, and I research the hell out of it until I feel I have a good grasp. Reddit is very bad for this by the way. I stumbled across a post a month or so back about the Jamestown massacre and 4 hours later I had listened to the entire audio and learned most the names of those who perished. I can't remember them all now, sadly, but I do remember one: Leo Ryan, the congressman who died trying to help out his constituents. He sort of has become my ideal of what a public servant should strive for (sans the getting murdered bit, obviously).
On a typical Friday night I am
Normally watching Discovery Channel with my dog (I'm that boring). I will switch it over to Netflix and watch It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia when it starts getting too hairy.

If that isn't going on then I am probably out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
...I would not put on here. You do know this is the internet, right? Ask me and I'll tell you all sorts of juicy dumb stuff. But I'm not going to put it into a profile. That's silly.

I guess I'm a prude.
