My Self-Summary
good-natured gal from oklahoma with more smarts than i know what to
do with, a reputation for speaking my mind, and a habit of wishful
thinking.
What I’m doing with my life
settling down in omaha after ten years living in chicago... making the most of what
i've got and hoping for a little something more. i balance my busy
work in retail with quiet time spent crafting, getting out into
nature, reading, doing puzzles, hanging out with
friends. i am social, not solitary. i want a partner to go out
with, (or stay in with!), someone to share a home with, make a life
with.
I’m really good at
my job as a bookstore manager. actually the
bookstore manages itself, i manage the people who work at the
bookstore. i'm good at teaching people and taking care of people,
helping them get what they want out of life. i'm also really good
at scrabble.
The first things people usually notice about me
my eyes, which i'm told are sexy and intense. then my naturally
curly hair. then my body, which is curvy and large. i think people
also notice my self-confidence, my intelligence, as well as my
sense of humor. all of that's real up front with me.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
i read short
stories, poetry, essays, memoirs, modern american
literature (not contemporary, not classic); most recently i read
joyce carol oates' wild nights! i like to study maps and
blueprints. i read books on alternative health, midwifery, herbal
medicine, eastern religion.
top five movies: eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, the science of sleep, wings of desire, harold and maude, brazil.
music: whisper folk, singer-songwriter, world music, jazz, classical. i have a masters degree in classical voice; this makes me especially bad at karaoke. i do love to go see bands play here in town. most recently: built to spill, bon iver, magnolia electric co, m ward.
food: coffee. i like coffee a lot. i am mostly vegetarian and a pretty decent cook. my favorite ethnic foods are mexican and ethiopian.

i am not as creative or "free thinking" as i'd like to be, though i
am very open-minded -- some would say off the charts -- with some
of my ideals and beliefs. i would like to get to a place eventually
where i was living only to create, or to serve those who are
creating...
