I'm in a really good place in my life now. I'm happy and I'm doing
what I like but it would be a bazillion times better if I had
someone to share the awesome with. I bide my time tinkering,
cooking and creating. I value knowledge and learning more than
anything. I'm a hard read and I like that way. I have no regrets.
What I’m doing with my life
Last summer I went all out driving from London, England to
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia with a buddy. Like any good journey, it
inspired a hundred new, must-do adventures so I came back in town
to accumulate enough ducats to realize said adventures. Ideally,
this down time will be an adventure in itself and I kindly request
the help of any who accept the challenge to help make it so.
I’m really good at
Understanding people. Figuring stuff out. Hosting.
I have an uncanny ability to keep a straight face when I'm lying.
Some have called this acting... I could choose to use my abilities
to make millions playing high stakes poker but I'm more than
content using it to deliver precision, razor sharp, face-shredding
humor(-_-) None will be spared.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm kind and quiet. My attitude is subdued but sincere. You're free
to find out.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a fan of anything good and I'm down for most electronica.
Recently, I've been listening to a lot of Lone, Taeko onuki
Principles of Geometry, Rajie, Future World Orchestra and Lio. I
can hold my own in an obscure music competition :) Dig Com Truise,
The Boards of Canada, Poolside, YMO (or anything Ryuichi Sakamoto),
Cepia, Ochre, T.E.E.D., Plaid, Flying Lotus, Umami, Proem,
Royksopp, and Isan. I also have a soft spot for experimental noise
music (Merzbow, Hijokaidan) and the J-pop that I grew up with
(Bonnie Pink, the Pillows, etc.). Up until about the age of 16, I
only really listened to Jazz (Bebop, specifically). So I know just
about every Jazz standard by heart.
I'm a real nerd for any super technical texts on anything from
animal behavior to acoustics to programing to mechanical
engineering. I'm a sucker for all hard-scifi; I cried like a baby
when I heard Arthur C. Clarke passed. I dig comedy in all forms. I
loves me some Arthur Ganson. Feel a spiritual affinity towards
Ernie Kovacs for reasons completely unknown to me. I really dig
good experimental art and can't go a day or two without good
I've become somewhat of a beer geek. I have my own 'cellar' of beer
I'm aging, travel to Portland regularly to pick up beer, host
bottle shares at my house and I can go on and on about my favorite
yeast strains :P
I cook. A lot. I try at least two new recipies a week.
Tea is really big with me and keeps me sane.
I like good movies no matter how old or where they come from. I'm
quite fond of Sans Soleil, Gozu, Closely Watched Trains, Tetsuo,
Shonen, The Red Spectacles, La Jetee, Tampopo, Brazil, Weekend, and
Alphaville. There're more but you'll have to ask me because the
list is getting too long. I enjoy ripping apart bad movies (or any
other art) to no end.
The six things I could never do without
A project to work on. A subject to learn about. A goal to knock
out. A person to help out. One great meal each day. A friend to
share it with.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I want to create in my free time....
On a typical Friday night I am
Cooking up a storm or hanging out with friends. Or both.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'll give you two because you're so nice:
1. I stick my tongue out like a toddler when I'm really thinking
2. Because of my previous job, I can sing or at least recognize the
theme song to just about every current TV show (-_-;) This saddens
You should message me if
You want to trade music links or hang or whatever~
