My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
After many years of traveling the world and skiing and climbing like mad and living a life of responsibility-free adventure, I now find myself wanting to settle down (somewhat) and start a career. Kind of like a reverse mid-life crisis, which hopefully does not mean that I am about to impulse buy a 2011 Dodge Caravan. Now I'm in Denver and am teaching high school, so I am responsible for helping mold the future leaders of our country. People who know me well should be scared at that prospect, because I am a little.

Luckily, living here in Colorado still allows me to pursue my love of the outdoors. While not as obsessive as I used to be, I still like to climb and ski and also bike and hike. I try to get outside as often as I can, and I would love to be able to share these experiences with someone. Heck, I would love just to able to go to a movie with someone, especially if it's one showing at the Mayan in Denver. Or if it's a cheesy dance movie, to which I must admit a secret weakness (I suppose not so secret anymore).

I used to believe in certain criteria of a "perfect match", until I found myself connecting with people that wouldn't normally fit my pre-conceived idea of a perfect match. I'm just looking for that spark of chemistry that is wholly unpredictable until I actually meet someone. Someone who is fun, adventurous, outgoing, can teach me how to salsa dance, laughs at my jokes, likes my beat-up Subaru, watches The Simpsons, is ridiculously gorgeous, and is outrageously wealthy. (That was a joke. Laugh.)

Really what is key is the feeling that the other person's happiness is important to my own happiness, and vice versa. I think this is the essence of caring, and it would be nice to share this feeling with someone.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working as a teacher, which I do enjoy, but really just trying to enjoy my life outside of work as much as possible.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
shamelessly embarrassing myself in public.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am outgoing and have a blazing wit that lulls people into thinking I am a charming and harmless smartass. Either that or my taut buns.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Huckleberry Finn. Love in the Time of Cholera. Also try to not get caught behind on my New Yorker magazines.
Movies: Love watching movies - go Netflix! My list of top five movies is somewhat eclectic.
TV: The Simpsons. The Wire. I've cut my cable though.
Music: Funk, Hip hop, Classic Rock. Listen to This American Life on long road trips.
Food: any and all types of food
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Expanding the concept of "things" beyond mere physical objects:
Time to play
Time to travel
My brother's family that also lives in Boulder
My amazingly fun and supportive friends
Distant 5th and 6th: my toys to play outside (climbing, skiing, biking)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Teaching school (unfortunately, the job does oftentimes take over my mind)
Planning adventures, usually involving being outdoors
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either camping, going up to the mountains to ski, watching a movie, doing some serious booty shaking, or karaoke
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
A somewhat oxymoronic category, considering that if I'm willing to admit it here, it is clearly not very private. I generally don't have too much to hide. I would say that I can display a raunchy (some say completely inappropriate) sense of humor. Prudish types may be turned off.
