I am liberalicious, a smart-ass, and so totally metal.

My Self-Summary

Ah, the fun of walking the line between not saying enough and saying way too much. That being said, I live in the lively Uptown area of Minneapolis. Been in the city for a little over two years now after living in Wisconsin all of my life. I love being able to walk downtown to work in the morning and then walking to the lakes after I get home. Not a big fan of the winter, but I just use the time to catch up on movies and music...basically anything to avoid the cold. The summers more than make up for it though.

I am fortunate enough to have a great job that gives me a lot of time off every year. I love to travel, and I am committed to making at least one foreign trip each year. This past year I went to Italy...not sure where I am going next.

Around town, I like trying new restaurants, going to concerts, catching a movie or just hanging out at the local pub. I am hoping to meet some people that share my interests and would like to go have a good conversation over a beer and then catch a show. Let me know if you are interested.

I’m really good at

Relating everything in my life to a Seinfeld episode.
Making people laugh in stressful situations.
Quoting random movies for no reason other than my own amusement.
Bullshitting.

Not that I like to brag...

The first things people usually notice about me

My big, beautiful blue eyes. Or the nose. Or the fact that I am not wearing pants.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Music - I cannot nail down a favorite band or genre, so, just for kicks, here are the first 20 songs from a random playlist off Windows Media Player...should be interesting:
1. No Use For a Name - "Revenge" - some great So-Cal pop-punk. I saw them live back in '96 and still have the t-shirt to prove it
2. Dream Theater - "Perfect Strangers" - My friend turned me on to this band. A talented prog-rock band with a seriously freaky following and a knack for songs that never seem to end. This one is not so good, but at least it is under 10 minutes long.
3. Dead Kennedys - "Holiday in Cambodia" - Come on...It's DK. Enough said.
4. Girls Against Boys - "Go Be Delighted" - One of the many CD's I bought simply because I dug the band's name.
5. Rob Zombie - "What Lurks on Channel X" - Just to prove I am not cheating. Okay, whatever...I kinda dig it. Quit laughing. There are still 15 to go.
6. Droids Attack - "March of the Capitalists" - Great stoner rock band from Madison. A longtime friend of mine is the drummer, so I am totally biased. Still excellent though.
7. Shiner - "Shelflife" - Bought this at a Jawbox show directly from the bass player. Saw the band live a few years later, and they killed it.
8. Billy Joel - "This Night" - I dig Billy Joel. Don't judge me.
9. Opeth - "Face of Melinda" - An amazing metal band. Even critics that do not like metal, like Opeth. The perfect blend of beauty and brutality. I think I made that sentence up, but I could have stolen it.
10. Weezer - "Glorious Day" - Love the green album. Everything else has been hit or miss. Actually, mostly miss since this album. I mean, "Beverly Hills?" I actually punched myself in the face, hoping to knock myself out, so I would never have to listen to that song again.
11. Sevendust - "Live Again" - Saw these guys live several times over a three year period. Then a funny thing happened...they took a turn the shit. Realized the money was in sounding like Nickelback...I am bitter that they made my list. F**K!!
12. Burning Airlines - "Everything Here Is New" - Jawbox spinoff. Not as good as the original, but pretty solid.
13. Jawbox - "Spit-Bite" - Freaky
14. Beastie Boys - "Alright Hear This" - What really needs to be said?
15. System of a Down - "Prison Song" - Should be played at every Republican town hall meeting to drown out the dipshits who think better healthcare is a bad idea.
16. Jimi Hendrix Experience - "Manic Depression" - This list is surprisingly diverse. Confession - I dig the heavy metal, but Windows Media Player seems to be afraid to let you all know that as it may scare some of you away. WMP is sensitive to your needs...maybe mine, too
17. Juliana Hatfield - "Fleur de Lys" - Love most of her albums and not just because she is gorgeous. Well, she used to be. Haven't seen her in a while. Saw her live though...not so good. At least I could look at her.
18. Mission of Burma - "Good, Not Great" - Bought their albums out of curiosity...glad I did. Amazing stuff.
19. Alice in Chains - "Sickman" - Makes me want to do heroin. Not really. Totally could go for pizza though...
20. Public Enemy - "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" - Not really into rap, but Chuck D's voice is infectious.

Movies - In the spirit of randomness, I have chosen every 15th DVD in my collection (yes, I put them in alphabetical order) and came up with this list:
Blade
Carlito's Way
The Dark Knight
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Gladiator
Idiocracy
Knocked Up
Memento
Payback: Director's Cut
Rounders
Spiderman 2
Top Secret
Waiting for Guffman

Full Disclosure: I also own Freddy vs. Jason, You've Got Mail and The Truth About Cats and Dogs. I am not ashamed.

TV - I have a few can't miss shows - 24, The Office, 30 Rock, House...um, The Biggest Loser. I try to catch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report on cable. I also have every season of Dexter and Veronica Mars on DVD because I am totally hip and with it, man. I have seen every episode of Saved By the Bell at least 10 times (that may or may not include The College Years), and I used to watch Beverly Hills 90210 religiously. Quit thinking you're better than me.

Books - Admittedly not a big book reader. If I read a book, it is something like "I Am America: And So Can You" by Stephen Colbert or any political book that gives me fodder when arguing with a Republican. I have enjoyed some classics...1984, Frankenstein, Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot, etc. Anyway, I should read more books and not just blogs, magazines, newspapers and whatever the course I am taking requires.

Food - Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Indian...and just a big greasy pub cheeseburger with tater tots

The six things I could never do without

My Samsung P3 (cheaper iPod), my computer, Patton (my cat), America: The Book, gyros, my superpowers (flight, superspeed and the power...to move you)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

what people walking down the street might look like naked, brownies

On a typical Friday night I am

hanging out with some friends at a bar or trying to get my homework done, so the rest of my weekend is free.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Well, I am almost embarrassed to admit this, but I own absolutely no pornography...the shame I feel...

You should message me if

You want to hang out with someone and just have a good time with no pressure.
