My self-summary
I'm a single professional living in the west end of Toronto.
Years ago I made a commitment to stay fit and have never regretted the decision. I honestly believe that since we only get one body in this life it only makes sense to take care of it.

I play guitar and have studied the instrument seriously for serveral years. Playing is a constant journey of discovery and I learn something new everytime I sit down to practise.

I am passionate about many kinds of music (jazz, blues, roots, classical and some kinds of "classic rock") and enjoy listening to the real thing as often as I can.

I enjoy fine wine and cuisine. I have a modest wine collection that seems to constantly be expanding to fill the available space.

I value a sense of humour and honesty. I am a voracious reader with interests that include mysteries, economics, history, current events and contemporary fiction.
What I’m doing with my life
I have an occupation that I enjoy and which constantly provides me with new challenges on a day to day basis.
Still discovering great music, movies, theatre, opera and food.
Just beginning to discover photography and how challenging it is to take really good pictures.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at listening and understanding the other person's point of view.
Playing guitar, discussing current events and enjoying the moment.
The first things people usually notice about me
My off the wall sense of humour. I admire those who are politically incorrect and who are independent thinkers.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favourite books: too many to list but include: Mile Zero by Thomas Sanchez, The Power of the Dog by Don Winslow and his other books, Crytonomicon by Neal Stephenson, mysteries by James Lee Burke and Lee Child, early James Ellroy like American Tabloid and lots of non fiction and anything by Ross Thomas (a wonderful writer who should be better known).
Movies: the classics like Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, the Wages of Fear, Chinatown and lots of guilty pleasures. Recent movies include Paul (absolutely hilarious, even if you don't like SF), Inception, The Town, the Millenium Trilogy and the list goes on and on. Television: Dexter, The Wire, the Almighty Johnsons, Sons of Anarchy.
Music: So many artists: Emilie Claire Barlow, Miles, Dexter, Ella, Stacey Kent, Adi Braun, Monk, Coltrane, Roy Hargrove and Anna Netrebko. Gutarists include John Abercrombie, John Williams, Elliot Fisk, Wes Montgomery, Bill Frissell, Tal Farlow, Duane Allman, Duke Robillard, Doc Watson (R.I.P), Russell Malone, Jason Fowler and so many more
Food: I have never met a dessert I didn't like and hate to consider the consequences if I ever stopped running.
The six things I could never do without
Music - it is part of my DNA
Good books - still great entertainment and the best way of communicating complex ideas
Friends - As the song says: "You got to have friends"
Wine - In vino veritas - enough said.
Guitars - can't imagine life without mine.
Summer: I think I have a tropic soul and was geographically misplaced at birth.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How Billy Strayhorn could have written "Lush Life" at the age of 16;
Where Robert Johnson learned how to play guitar so well - did he really sell his soul to the devil as the legend says?
Will I ever run a five minute mile again? - Probably not but it's fun to fantasize.
Where does the inspiration for great art really come from?
What will be the Next Great Thing?
On a typical Friday night I am
Going out to listen to music, eat, meet up with friends and talk about the week, life, love and stuff like that.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have powers far beyond those of mortal men.
(What kind of answer do you expect to a ridiculous question?)
