My self-summary
Hi! If my friends had to summarize me in one word it would be "random" but if you gave them two words it would be "really random".

I’m your quintessential Jack of all trades… “master of none, but oft times better than master of one” or so the saying goes. Studied computational biology in college and now work as a software developer at Google, though I’m not sure how this happened. I’m a classically trained pianist, cycle and race triathlons for fun, practice Bikram yoga, spend hours on a single origami project, etc. I love to learn and have an eclectic collection of books ranging from medical texts to data mining to Calvin & Hobbes.

Originally from San Diego, I moved here two years ago from Seattle after living there for three. I’m a lifelong Giants fan and a major baseball stat geek; I feel like I could’ve retired by now had I put half as much effort into studying the stock market. I get along with everyone and have a compulsive need to make small talk with strangers. I’m easily distracted by squirrels.

ENFP to a T for what it’s worth.
What I’m doing with my life
Solving interesting problems at work and pursuing my passions for music and sleep in my spare time.
I’m really good at
The piano. Been playing since I was 4 and love it. I currently play in two different church bands and can’t help but play a piano if I see one (like in a hotel lobby). I’m classically trained and can play fairly well by ear, which is great for taking requests of pop songs I barely know.
The first things people usually notice about me
My wit. I'm always trying to make people smile (not necessarily laugh) and am well enough read on various subjects and current events to be able to jump into a conversation and derail it with a joke.

I've also had a few folks tell me that I have a friendly and approachable face. This is unfortunate when I walk around the mall or farmers market as I get solicited by pretty much every vendor and since I don't want to be rude and ignore them either both our time gets wasted or I get suckered into buying something I don't need (see ShamWow incident under "The most private thing I'm willing to admit").
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
tl;dr; I read non-fiction, most likely watch the same sitcoms as you when I have time, and listen to alt music and 104.9 KDFC.

Books: Mountains Beyond Mountains, Arrowsmith, What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20, Newton & the Counterfeit, The Big Short, The Alchemy of Air, Hunger Games, On the Nature of Human Romantic Interaction (this is a science book, I swear), Eckert Animal Physiology (my all time favorite book in high school and yes it is a text book).

Movies: Arsenic & Old Lace, Gladiator, Inception, Casino Royale, Toy Story 2, 50/50.

Shows: Fringe, How I Met Your Mother, NOVA specials on PBS, ESPN Baseball Tonight, Arrested Development, So You Think You Can Dance, Young Justice (cartoon!), Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead.

Music: The Black Keys, The Bravery, Emilie-Claire Barlow, Evanescence, Fun, Great Northern, Jesus Culture, Linkin Park, Matchbox Twenty, Metric, Muse, Norah Jones, RelientK, Switchfoot, VersaEmerge. I have a habit of automatically dissecting music by ear so sometimes it's hard for me to fully appreciate a song because I've only been focusing on, say, the violins or drum for the past minute.

Food: Mexican, Italian, Greek, anything BBQ'd. I dislike Japanese cuisine even though I'm half Japanese...
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order:
- grace
- good weather
- family and friends
- my word of honor
- Swiss Army knife (soooo useful)
- a musical instrument (any kind, doesn't matter)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
[♫ Gaston and LeFou singing ♫]
Gaston: LeFou, I'm afraid I've been thinking...
LeFou: A dangerous pastime
Gaston: I know

Previously, I had here that I was scatter brained, which is true, but after thinking about it I realized that my thoughts have been tending towards "how can I be a better steward of my resources?"

I also spend a lot of time thinking about NOT rubbing my eyes, as I just had LASIK and apparently you can ruin your vision by rubbing your eyes during the healing process. Yikes.
On a typical Friday night I am
I use my Friday evenings to recover and recharge for the coming weekend and workweek. Perhaps reading or playing Chopin isn't the most riveting way to spend a night, but there's value in tranquility and my psyche is all the better for this downtime.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I got suckered into buying a ShamWow years ago back before it was even called ShamWow. My sisters still bug me for being dumb enough to get one.
I’m looking for
  • Straight girls only
  • Ages 22–28
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
I'm a pretty chill person with a bazillion interests, so I get along with pretty much anyone except for extremely sarcastic people who, for whatever reason, never get my style of playful banter. Drop me a line if you think we could be friends!
