My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I love to read, catch a good foreign film, learn new phrases in as many languages as possible- obviously I love to travel. A good novel I read awhile back said, "You never have to leave if you read enough books. You can travel with your mind." While that is a lovely and poetic way to justify reading, I must stretch my travel wings- whether that is through flight, taste, or sight.

As for the types of men I like: I like the well cultured. In other words, a romantic of sorts, someone with whom I can carry on a conversation about politics without either party getting angry, someone who listens to new ideas even if they don't necessarily agree or accept. Recently I've admired from afar a good hipster man-bun and facial scruff-- it really came from nowhere…. But I'm gonna go with it.

I'm just going to say it. I love literary fiction. And I read the New Yorker and the Atlantic quite frequently, but I have a serious guilty pleasure for reading funny memoirs: Tina Fey, David Sedaris, Chelsea Handler, etc.

I'm also a sports fanatic. Giants and Yankees fan.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Writing, learning, and traveling. Creative Writer and Sociology nerd.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Acclimating to different cultures.
.....Fantasy Football. Don't judge me.
Cooking. I'll whip you up an amazing chocolate souffle.
Have a great, sarcastic sense of humor and occasionally I say offensive things. Whoops.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyes i've been told. Or my hair. Apparently I have really nice hair. To quote many people, "your hair just looks like a lions mane."

I should say I prefer to be called Lioness, but I am not one to make preference in regards to gender construction. (See sociology nerd.)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: Lorrie Moore (obsessed! And my work is overly influenced by hers). Alice Munro, Mary Gaitskill, Jonathan Safran Foer, George Saunders, Zadie Smith, the contemporary list goes on and on. Recently read a great collection of short stories: Bobcat, by Rebecca Lee. Also, Flannery O'Connor short stories. Recently started exploring South Asian lit as well.

The window to my soul is through kick ass contemporary poetry.

Movies- Top 5 in no order: Cinderella Man, Girl Interrupted, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Revolutionary Road, and The Pianist. Also any CIA/Spy movie. I have a secret desire to be an ass-kicking agent. Or a storm chaser. Twister was my favorite movie as a kid.

Music: EDM, Alternative, Rap, Pop, Blues, Soul, Bluegrass.
Adele, Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, Amy Winehouse, Duffy, The Civil Wars, The Steel Drivers, Steve Aoki, Tiesto, Florence + The Machine, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Ellie Goulding, Imogen Heap, Norah Jones, Emeli Sande.

Food: Indian, Middle Eastern, Greek, Mexican. Pretty much anything. I've been mostly vegetarian for a while now but not for moral reasons, so I will occasionally treat myself to a meat-dish.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Other than necessary life essentials and family and my golden retriever:

A good space to write in
Twinnings Earl Gray tea
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Traveling, research, and what to cook for dinner.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I like to mix it up. I don't really have a typical friday night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I accidentally walked out of Barnes and Noble with a book I was carrying, without paying, and didn't notice until I was almost home....I never took it back because of embarrassment. Though, I did see much humor in the situation. And the book was really good: the Mindy Kaling memoir. (I told you I had a guilty pleasure for celeb (comedian) memoirs)
