My Self-Summary

I have no idea how to describe myself. Perhaps I keep myself adaptable to whatever situations I get into. Who needs to be consistent?

What I’m doing with my life

A few weeks ago I had no idea what I was going to do with my life... having just spent a year travelling, writing, and photography. Life has lead me to a job in Denton and so I'm going with the flow.

I’m really good at

Photography, journalism, random musical instruments (like jaw harp and harmonica), cooking dishes and pastries and cocktail concoctions, conversations on just about any topic, stage makeup / hair / outfits, running, walking, making playlists, diving into different eras, and most of all I'd like to think I'm funny or at least have a great sense of humor.

The first things people usually notice about me

My impeccable misuse of fashion. I like to weed 'em out.
My pitch black hair and extremely pale complexion. Add a little makeup and I could be snow white.
My consistent drink of choice.
The expensive camera that I bring with me everywhere.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I don't read too much but I do love dark humor from authors like George Saunders and Hunter S Thompson. I also like short stories from the New Yorker... humorists like Jack Handy. I would like to read more of Carl Sagan and F Scott Fitzgerald. I seem to be more intrigued by the authors themselves / eras and plots more than I am in actually reading (or finishing) their work. Yep...

As for movies, I'm all over the place. I like the works of the Coen Brothers, David Lynch, Dario Argento, Baz Luhrmann, Tim Burton, Spike Jonze, Spike Lee, Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Rob Zombie, John Waters, M. Night Shyamalan, Charlie Kaufman, Robert Rodriguez, Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia Coppola, Stanley Kubrick, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Jim Jarmusch, Jim Henson, Luc Besson, John Carpenter, Terry Gilliam, George A. Romero. Anything Cult-ish, B-Rated Horror, Glam Rock, Trashy, or French.Anything that stars Bruce Cambell, Anjelica Huston, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Isabella Rossellini, Wynona Ryder, Brad Pitt, Nicholas Cage, Katharine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, William Defoe, Christopher Walken, Vincent D'Onofrio, Sandra Bullock, Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, blah blah blahhh.

As for music, I like shoegazing, psychedelic, punk, new wave, classic jazz, french pop, gypsy swing, some dance, and glam rock. There are way too many bands to mention that I consider my favorite. Just ask!

As for food I love to taste. Anything with rich flavor or spice. I have a very broad pallet yet hate going to nice restaurants or having big meals. I cook for myself and friends more often, choosing what ingredients to use, controlling the portion sizes. I would say I'm extremely picky in this manner. I love Indian food, Mediterranean / Greek, Italian, Creole, Thai. Anything with olive oil, garlic, basil I'll try. I make killer pesto.

The six things I could never do without

My lovely rebel camera
eye-liner
Caffeine by day whiskey by night
mediums for art or to write ideas
humor
sleep

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Evolution of society, possible adventures, nostalgia, my friends, humorous things, the weather, musical lyrics, artistic possibilities, what my next meal I want to cook.

On a typical Friday night I am

Friday nights are my night in. I like the week-night people therefore I go out then.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I eat a LOT of garlic.

You should message me if

You think you'll humor me or vice versa. Also always looking to get a drink and talk, find a fellow globe-trotting pen-pal to exchange postcards and silly letters with.
You should not message me with something snarky to say. Cordiality first, spunk later.
