My self-summary
I'm Jason. I'm a tall, bearded, outdoors loving, adventure seeking, homebrew making, photograph taking, software engineer educated as a mathematician.

I grew up in Michigan and moved to Colorado six years ago for grad school, living in Sweden and Vermont along the way.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a few degrees in mathematics, and I currently thrive on big-data algorithms. In my free time, I do landscape photography, hike and backpack, camp, snowboard, play disc golf, hang out with my brother and dad, make fun of people from Ohio, and cook.
I’m really good at
Math and programming - Someone has to do it. I actually think most people are good at math - they're just taught incorrectly, and taught the wrong/useless things.

Photography - I've taught photography at the college level and have worked for some large production magazines. I do mostly landscape photography, but overall my cameras have been a self-sustaining hobby of mine for about 12 years, and provide a motivation for visiting and camping near many of Colorado's remote wilderness lakes and peaks.

Traveling on a budget - Before I was out of grad school, I'd flown across the Atlantic 20 times, had been north of the Arctic Circle in every season, to almost every state, to almost every wilderness area in Colorado, and on many other adventures.

I can build a campfire better than anyone you've ever met.

What am I not good at?

I don't recognize people by their faces as I'm faceblind. Google: prosopagnosia. I recognize people in many other ways, just like you more-than-likely do.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm relatively tall. Actually, people taller than me sort of freak me out.

My eyes don't line up if I'm tired. I never got a good explanation from the parents on that one.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: 100 Years of Solitude, As I Lay Dying, The Alchemist, Harry Potter in Swedish, Dune.
Movies: Sanger fran andra vaningen (Swedish), Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Snatch, The Big Lebowski
Music: Iron & Wine, Mumford & Sons, Bon Iver, Calexico, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Hearts of Space, Martin Tillman
Food: Lots of stuff could go here. I'm not picky, at all.
The six things I could never do without
1) My brother and dad. I've lost close family members, and those experiences have made me even more thankful for the family I have left. Given the chance to hang out with anyone, I'd choose my (identical twin) brother and father. We get along, know each other, and laugh on a level that I think few people ever experience.
2) A full-sized kitchen.
3) Humor and sarcasm.
4) Hiking shoes/boots.
5) My cameras.
6) Craft beer.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the next awesome campsite I can find in the mountains and the sunrise/sunset photo spots I can explore nearby.
On a typical Friday night I am
getting to the trailhead and having a campfire.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a stuffed animal, a moose, who travels everywhere with me.

You should message me if
you (try to) write and speak with proper grammar and you don't mind being goofy sometimes.

You stop at stop signs even when there is nobody around ... and you think that is normal.
