Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My name’s Matt … welcome!
So I’m a nerdy math teacher. I know … nerd? … math teacher? Wow how
cliché. Anyway, its true and I love it. I used to be an art teacher
but with getting my Master’s in Math Leadership in Education from
UMBC I changed up the subject matter and began my trek to teach
math to the masses. What I like to do is use what I learned and
loved about art and art education and use it in my math classroom.
Won’t bore you here with it but it makes for a rather interesting
Right now I’m debating on whether or not to go back to school again
to get my Master’s in Administration or just get a Ph.D. in
Education and see where that takes me. Teaching and being a teacher
is my love.
On the side I teach karate. I’ve taken and taught karate for over
25 years. I’m working on putting together some instructional and
demonstration stuff for my 4th degree black belt that I will be up
for in a couple of years. Put the work in early and get the results
you want right?
For fun I love playing games … mostly board games (not Monopoly
think more Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride). I am amassing a
bit of a collection and I love every one of them. I also like to
read and write when I can. I have some fun ideas for stories that I
want to write about one day. I just need to sit down in front of
the computer and do it. I love to travel though right now its been
traveling locally I recently moved to Baltimore from Columbia so I
don’t know the city that well. Care to show me around?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Teaching and being really really sarcastic. I wanted to desperately
answer this questions with "typing."
I'm also working on better myself and being a better man everyday.
I recently quit smoking and I am work on getting into karate shape
again to work on a demonstration/class I want to teach soon.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Art, drawing, talking about art like I know what I am talking
about, arguing about education reform, math, karate, making people
think I know what the hell I am talking about, observing, lists
.... (we'll leave it there for now)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Some really nice people I know say I have an "easy smile, great
eyes and a very open and fun personality."

With that I love the a bunch of the comic book movies like the
Nolan Batman trilogy and all of the Marvel Avengers movies. I do
like the new Star Trek movies and look forward to where they are
going to take the new Spock and Kirk.

now. Best shows I’ve seen were George Clinton and the Parliament
Funkedelic and seeing the Killers (my favorite band ever) last
year. I just love live shows.
TV- I Netflix pretty much everything so I am not up-to-date with
much of anything these days. I did watch the first 9 seasons of
Criminal Minds and the whole running of Lie to Me lately so I’m due
for something new. I like the Walking Dead and Doctor Who (Matt
Smith is my Doctor if you’re wondering) but I’ll be catching up
with them later.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Friends and family
(Not at all in that order)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Usually it's the last song in my head.
When it's not its something work related, or how I can better
My personal (and the baseball team i coached) mantra "be better
then you were yesterday"
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Matters. Sometimes I'm in with my dog just watching some Netflix or
reading and coming down from the week. Sometimes I'm out playing
games with some friends. Sometimes I'm out and about hitting the
town like the single man that I am :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Wouldn't be a secret if I told you.
