My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Alright, here we go ...

Name's Matt.

I just graduated with my Master's and I am at the point in my life I haven't a clue what to do next. Ph.D? Another Master's? Become a mad scientist? Not sure yet but I love to challenge myself and keep on learning.

I also teach karate and have done so for the past 25 years or so. I just got my 3rd degree black belt in 2013 and its probably somewhere up on Youtube so check it out if you want to see something a little different.

Creative endeavors are important to me. I am a painter and illustrator. I also have been doing some writing and photography on the side just to keep my creative juices flowing. I am currently attempting to write a graphic novel that I may or may not draw. I'd love to get published one day, but to be completely honest its more about the challenge of creating and finishing a story. I've written three novels that will never be published too mostly because it was fun writing them but why torture the general public?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Teaching. Currently I teach high school math but I used to be an art teacher for years. Teaching is my calling and I love every bit of it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Art, drawing, talking about art like I know what I am talking about, arguing about education reform, math, karate, making people think I know what the hell I am talking about, observing, lists .... (we'll leave it there for now)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Some really nice people I know say I have an "easy smile, great eyes and a very open and fun personality."
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galexy series, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and The Outliers

Movies: Top two movies that I simply love are The Life of Pi and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. They were amazing!!!

Music - Its kinda cliche to say I have an eclectic taste in music so I will just say I like good music. I have been known to rock out of nowhere an amazing rendition of Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Knight and the Pips (and yes I know both Gladys' and the Pips parts so I am more then willing to do a duet)
Here some bands right now I'm into:
Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters is my top - Wheels, Best of You, Monkey Wrench ... I mean he's this generation's Bob Dylan.
The Killers (come on ... you know the Killers)
Motion City Soundtrack (pop indie rock)
Everyone Dies In Utah (emo/screamo rock)
Adam Warrock (nerdcore rap)
Minus the Bear and Q and not U (
Ryan Adams/Sara Watkins (Alt county/alt bluegrass)
............ I'll stop there for now ... but there's plenty more

I love live shows and being close to so venies makes it easy to take in a show. I got to see Alice Cooper and Marliyn Manson live with GWAR which was an interesting show (got some amazingly funny "only happens to me" stories from this one) and I got to see the Killers this past summer which was amazing. Especially the upgrade in seating that I got :) ... it was awesome!

Food - I really don't know how to answer this one ... good food?

TV- Walking Dead and Doctor Who. I'm a diehard O's fan so I try to take in their games the best I can.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My ipod
Smartphone
Glasses
Wallet
Keys
Friends and family
(Not at all in that order)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Usually it's the last song in my head.

When it's not its something work related, or how I can better myself today.

My personal (and the baseball team i coached) mantra "be better then you were yesterday"
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It matters. Sometimes karate workout ... sometimes out playing board games ... or just sitting outside enjoying a drink and the sunset ... or something completely different.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Wouldn't be a secret if I told you.
