If the price of an apple was raised 50% and then decreased 50%, making it cost $0.75, how much was the original price?

asking stupid math questions will not find me a date or a boyfriend. this is the reason that calculators were invented. quite frankly i don't care about the cost of an apple going up and down because the store will tell me how much to pay
