My self-summary
I'm a spice merchant/artist by trade and circumstances. I've traveled if not extensively then well. I love going on unorthodox hikes, and by unorthodox I mean that when I hike I don't do it to test my physical limits, I go to see nature and find interesting things. A good example is that whenever my friends and I set out on a trail we usually end up leaving the path ten minutes in and spending hours just poking around in the brush or rivers edge trying to find salamanders and unique rocks.

I love listening to people's stories, even relatively mundane ones. I like to cook, and can make just about anything with a little prep and some ingredients.

I read here and there, primarily news, lots of history, some fiction. Hmm, I am extremely laid back, but I don't take guff from people who are disrespectful or rude. I generally take things in stride and have an easy time seeing things from other people's perspectives.

However I am pretty firmly rooted in my political and social beliefs, I can't abide racial slurs, or people who think that things like affirmative action are outdated...or that we live in a post racial society. I also am not cool with people who appropriate stuff for purposes of looking 'neat' while having no concept of what cultural structures created the thing they're appropriating. I also don't go in for the whole slut shaming thing, or the idea that we can 'uplift' women in other countries because it implies we come from a morally superior place, and renders these women as being unable to or otherwise ignorant of their own situation...white savior stuff matter what it looks like. Also I am firmly in the camp that misandry does not exist, and that the 'nice guy' personality is usually just a cover for dudes who are actually total jerks.

I moved up here recently, after being raised in Southern California, I also lived in Texas briefly about a year ago. I am also in a open relationship with ediltz, who is charming and pretty much that's why it says available up there...I'm mostly looking for friends and people to pal around with, but I also love exploring relationships with people and sexuality so that's on the table as well.
What I’m doing with my life
Well, I moved here because I love the North West, it always felt more like a home to me than Southern California did. So now that I'm here I'm wrapping up work on a Kickstarter I had going so I can get back to painting on commission and finding new things to make.

Really my plan currently is to continue working at my spice shop, make as good a psuedo career out of it as I can, and use the time and freedom it affords me to produce paintings, book arts, and maybe carve out a little artistic niche for myself up here.

Really my aspirations are more in line with simple experiences, things that give me some sort of happiness or put adventure into my life. Day trips, camping when I can, kayaking when possible. I really don't want a lot, and by extension that makes life a lot less scary in a weird way.
If I wanted a bunch of things, like nice cars, a house, consumer electronics, or kids, then I could see worrying about my career, but I want rainforests and painting, I want to go to galleries and listen to concerts by musicians I'm not even necessarily interested in...I want people and moments that can't truly be bought. With that in mind I think I've hit a stride that makes me pretty content.
I’m really good at
I can paint (acrylics, gouache, watercolor), I'm doing a whiz bang job of learning digital art, I do book arts (hollowing out books and re-purposing them), I want to get into sign making, maybe some woodworking, try my hand at print making, and I used to do Sumi-e painting. I can cook, basically anything, I love tea and have a growing knowledge of that. I am great with history, and I am attentive in matters of politics and society.

I can tailor things, know how to sew, some millinery experience. I can replace brakes and timing belts, and I like figuring out why things work the way they do. I can do a lot of impersonations...though not always of people or characters people really care about.

I know how to fix games? But specifically historical simulation or strategy games. I'm alright at Smash Bros...for a long time I was virtually unbeatable at the terrible Star Wars Masters of Teras Kasi game...but that is really in I haven't gotten to force choke anyone in that game for nearly a decade.

I'm sarcastic...but not in an overtly negative way. I'm a pretty good writer, and have written two nearly complete books...but they need touching up.
The first things people usually notice about me
My clothes, I have a pretty unique eyes. I have long arms...I've been told it improves my ability to hug people.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love history books, I rarely read fiction. My favorite author is Sarah Vowell, so if you know her I'd love to chit chat, because she is fantastic. Other books include The Victorians, Ender's Game, Dune, Dry, Tomcat in Love, Game of Thrones, Don Quixote, Cyrano De Bergerac, The Master and Margarita, Pale Fire, Lolita, Persuasion, Jurassic Park, The Lost City of Z, The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, all of the Sherlock Holmes stories.

Then with movies, there's all the regular kind of nerdy stuff, Ghostbusters, Big Trouble in Little China (so good, but so incredibly bad too),all things Indiana Jones, Lawrence of Arabia, The Thing, Kurosawa films, old Star Trek movies, Star Wars, John Cusack films, The Great Race, The Money Pit, The Burbs, Lord of the Rings, Without a Clue. Anything Werner Herzog. Nic Cage uniquely terrible. Little Miss Sunshine. Children of Men.

Movies I hate: Anything Lars Von Trier, the newest Star Trek movie (I mean jesus, would it have been so hard to cast an actual Sikh as Khan...and maybe not had a random scene with Carol Marcus in her underwear. I mean she's gorgeous...but it's totally meaningless and misogynistic), Mot modern comedies (looking at you Hangover, and anything that has the word 'Movie' in the title), Lord Jim sucked...despite having Peter O'Toole in it. Those Transformer's movies are terrible...anything by Uwe Boll. 500 Days of Summer was not a very good movie...great soundtrack...but the movie...not good.

I love Venture Brothers, I don't watch much TV besides that. Uhhh...Frasier, Star Trek...Deep Space Nine...I love that show where the really bro-y guys hunt ghosts. I watched Downton Abbey up through season 3...but season 3 sucked so bad I don't think I'll keep watching. Game of Thrones...though it's kinda beginning to fly of the rails in my opinion. I loved shows like the A-Team, Magnum P.I., The Golden Girls. I used to watch Transformers all the time as a kid, and I still get a kick out of occasionally watching them. ALF...fuckin' loved ALF, and Simpson's up to season 12 or thirteen I think...I can't quite remember the cut off point when they stopped being funny. Sometime when Homer went from being goofy to just violent and really...REALLY dumb...after that they just weren't the same. Cosmos with Carl Sagan. Documentaries...

Music I could go on forever about. I love The Clash, They Might Be Giants, Vampire Weekend, Pulp, Beach House, Best Coast, Huey Lewis and the News, the Yoshida Brothers, The Smiths, T. Rex, Sweet, Queen, Paul Simon, Beach House, Neutral Milk Hotel, Grimes, Prince Rama, Neil Diamond and to get more esoteric I enjoy film scores, like the Granada Television Series Score to Sherlock Holmes, or the original soundtrack of the Kurosawa film Yojimbo. Cranberries. So I'm somewhat eclectic, I just have a harder time with modern popular music and pop. Also I have the traditional hard time with country that was made after 1965.

Food! I nearly forgot! I love food, Cajun, Indian, American, Mexican...I could go on for quite a while. I cook a lot of Chinese and Cajun. I tend to default to Mexican food because I always just generally enjoy it. I used to make 100 mile road trips for great sandwiches.

Another fundamental thing to add is board games, I love board games. Some favorites include Arkham Horror, Carcasonne, Settler's of Catan, Small World, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Twilight Imperium, and on and on, really I love games, and my friend and I are constantly looking for new ones to try.

Video Games: I love strategy games, like Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings III, or the old Romance of the Three Kingdoms games. I love quirky indie games, like Spelunky, Cave Story, FTL. I like open world stuff too, like the new Fallout games, or Skyrim (never got to finish it, was playing it on my friends console and then I moved and...well, I'll never get to see what happens). I actually really enjoy the Grand Theft Auto series, despite how annoying the writing and humor in it is, I like it for the open space and just kinda driving about all the time, or trying to do dumb things like launching a vespa off a garage and into a pool. Red Dead Redemption was amazing, but kind of...some of the plot, and the ending was meh. Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, but I enjoyed those because I made my character this really hideous pock marked bleached blond guy with no when you compared how ugly he was with how heroic he was supposed to be, and the way everyone fawns over turned the game into a never ending punchline. Animal Crossing New Leaf is really fun, and I used to love the Harvest Moon games.

Also if you know what Achewood is...or rather if you love Achewood we are already best friends.
The six things I could never do without
opportunities to make stuff
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Current events, history, how to apportion my day between painting and poking about places. Whether I should go swimming. I also spend a substantial amount of time on my Tumblr (link below in the message me section) writing little captions for classical paintings and being daft.
On a typical Friday night I am
At home...I suppose, probably reading. Or really anywhere that I can think to go, I've gotten used to not having regular weekends, so when I do go out it's whenever I have time and feel like it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've got a terrible obsession with Taco'm completely incorrigible when it comes to chalupa supremes.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 20–40
  • Near me
  • For new friends, short-term dating, casual sex
You should message me if
You want someone to play boardgames with, or go see some gallery open with. Really just generally palling around, or you want someone to chat with when you're bored.

Also! Lest I forget, if you want to see more of me just writing things and having awful opinions feel free to check out my blog over here at Trebaol of Arabia

Also I have an art blog where I post all my paintings and stuff, Trebaol Art.
