My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi! My name's Sumeet!

I've lived in San Francisco for 4 years. Before that: Niagara Falls, NY -> Dayton, Ohio -> India -> Queens, NYC -> Dayton, Ohio -> Boston (University) -> Dayton, Ohio.

I'm a software engineer. I grew up in front of the computer and I've been writing software since I was 13. I frickin' love it. It's why I came to San Francisco. I feel lucky that I can earn a good living doing something I love.

Outside of work, I like to keep busy with exercise, reading and talking and laughing with friends.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My career and work as an engineer are super important to me. I like building high quality software and I like working on teams. I'm learning all I can about software and working on a team, and I hope to build my own team some day.

I read a lot of books. If I had to break it down, I'd say 10% are software books, 20% are non-fiction (I have been helped by self-help!) and 70% existentialist fiction.

I love running, and I do it every day. It feels good to go fast while listening to my favorite music! I also work out at home and meditate. I've kept up a daily meditation practice for almost a year and I really like how much it chills me out.

When I'm not alone, I like going to new restaurants, having friends over to listen to music or play video games.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being myself. Speaking my mind.

Identifying my own thoughts and feelings.

Making decisions. Deciding how to live my life. Choosing a course of action at work during an emergency. Figuring out where to eat and what to order.

Some fun ones:

I'm a crazy fast typist. I got a copy of Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing when I was 8, and now my top speed is around 150 wpm.

DDR. Yes, the dancing video game! I played a lot in college and got good enough to win a few tournaments :D
The first things people usually notice about me

I have a unique style which I love experimenting with. Fun colors in my hair and clothes (my favorite colors are red and blue) and my nose ring.

My voice! I can be really loud if I want!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books I feel a soft spot for: The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged, Brave New World, The Stranger

My favorite movie is hands down The Matrix. I don't remember the second two, but I've seen the first one a hundred times. I think Neo is awesome and I relate being unplugged to my own spiritual awakening.

My favorite genre of music is called chiptunes or 8-bit music. I've been listening to it since I was a kid and luckily there's a subculture that produces more and better Nintendo and Game Boy music than ever before.

I friggin' love meat substitute these days. I eat real meat too, but I prefer the fake stuff because it grosses me out less and it has more fiber. I love this restaurant in the Mission that specializes in fake meat called Big Lantern.

I also really like eggs, greek yogurt, cheese, steak, beets, avocado, peanuts, walnuts, bok choy and brussels sprouts.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Running gear: shoes, music, foam roller.

Legal weed.
Low carb food.
And I seriously can't be without ChapStick for even an hour.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to communicate more effectively.

Empathy and seeing things from others' point of view.

My own development. Noticing the difference in how old me and current me would handle a situation.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Playing 80s video games at my apartment with friends.

Cracking up at a free friday night improv show.

Hanging out at a bar patio.

Eating Korean or Japanese.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I've been wearing mismatched socks for the past two months.
