I am smiling, laughing, and biking through space.

My Self-Summary

I grew up in Albuquerque, NM and currently schoolin it up in LA. I'm a vegetarian, I enjoy volunteering, I ride my bike nearly everywhere, I drum and play guitar/keys, and I'm trying to learn bass, mandolin, and any interesting instrument I can get my hands on. I'm trying to meditate and do yoga more often.

My childhood heroes are Sonic the Hedgehog and Donatello (the ninja turtle, not the sculptor...)

I'll poke fun at everyone (including myself) for some laughs. I enjoy playing the pan-flute and frolicking through the forest.

Ideologically, I'm a total green-pinko-commie-anarcho-socialist-feminist-hippie.

In brief, I like-- music, art, environmentalism, intelligence, creativity, tattoos, piercings, nerds, alternative transit

I dislike-- egos, materialism, greed, nihilism, pollution

What I’m doing with my life

I do stage and audio work at my school, intern at a recording studio, and am studying to become a studio/venue owner+multimedia audio/visual artist (in an ideal world, anyway). I tend to get lost listening to 12 second audio loops on repeat while daydreaming about out of body experiences.

I enjoy films that make you think, art you can touch, and food cooked with love.

I do some nerdy computer programming/web design stuff on the side.

I encompass a nice cross-section of geekiness and creativity...I was the kid in Physics C in high school who had to miss the AP exam to tour with his band.

I’m really good at

playing music, riding a bike, making people feel like they're 8 years old again.

If you're having a shitty day, I can improv you a folk song about your cool bowling shoes, or the grace with which you brush your teeth.

I could destroy you in a cereal eating contest.

The first things people usually notice about me

A constant smile, rosy cheeks, and an inappropriate sense of humor.

Oh, and I'm short (though I think of it as fun-sized).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Movies-- City of God, The Fountain, Rushmore, Princess Mononoke, A Very Long Engagement, The Wall, Leon the Professional, Annie Hall, A Clockwork Orange, Koyaanisqatsi, lots of films by Miyazaki, Wes Anderson, and Darren Aronofsky

Music-- my all time favorite group would have to be At the Drive-In. I also really dig mathy/instrumental music like Russian Circles, Tera Melos, Battles, Braid, The Books, Piglet, Kidcrash. My other big niche is folky stuff like Cat Stevens, Phil Ochs, Joanna Newsom, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Chad van Gaalen, Sufjan Stevens, Kind of Like Spitting, Novi Split, Neutral Milk Hotel, Andrew Bird, Fleet Foxes.

And I love most of the Cap'n Jazz family tree. (Ghosts & Vodka, American Football, Owls, Owen, etc.)

And I can always listen to Saves the Day and The Get Up Kids when I'm craving some nostalgia. Also, Sigor Ros, The Velvet Teen.

And a lot more...if you're into music, we could talk for days.

Books-- my favorite books have pictures-- Watchmen, Nausicaa, Maus, Ghost World, Blankets, Akira, anything by Adrian Tomine.

Food-- lately, my specialty has been tempeh quesadillas. And I'm always down for tofu pad thai.

The six things I could never do without

A Bicycle
Soy
Laughter
Cereal
the 90s
Jimmy Stewart Impersonations

I spend a lot of time thinking about

the continuous cycle of expansion and compression of every piece of matter in the universe. *head explodes*

On a typical Friday night I am

strumming while singing, or drumming while screaming.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I can't explain it, but if you wear glasses, I'm probably 50% more attracted to you.

You should message me if

You'd rather have intelligent discourse than get drunk every night.

You know the difference between a schrader and presta valve (or you want to know)

You enjoy feeling like you've swallowed your tongue from laughing too hard.

You use the word "rad." maybe "rad-core".

You can give me banjo lessons.

You'll feed me vegan food for drum lessons.
