I am laid back, introspective, and honest.

My Self-Summary

Hi, I'm Seth.
I love to game, watch movies, and discuss the intricacies of life. I'm a gamer but I don't let it consume me. It was part of my career for many years, and seeing it from the business side and development side has given me a simple respect for it as an artistic form of entertainment alongside movies and music.
I'm a Christian guy that knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that God exists, and I hope to find a girl that shares the same beliefs. I also believe, though, that my experiences are my own, and I don't impose them on anyone.
I work hard, take care of my dog Baxter, spend time with my family, and play games in my free time. I love movies, dabble in photography, write music, and I'm disinterested in most organized sports (except golf; playing not watching). I can be sarcastic at times, enjoy dark comedy, and I'm a little bit misanthropic.

What I’m doing with my life

I work as a network IT professional for a large medical insurance company. I love to travel but rarely find the time between work, taking care of the puppy, and family events. I am hoping to visit Japan sometime next year though.
Family is very important to me and eventually I would like to have one of my own. My parents are divorced, but have been mature about it and they get along in social situations. My Dad remarried 5 years ago to another wonderful lady, so family events are pleasant and crowded.

I’m really good at

Over analyzing, digesting teriyaki, not doing lawn maintenance, petting Baxter (he seems to like it anyway), golfing poorly, rubbing feet

The first things people usually notice about me

The gadgets hanging off my person (I'm filling out this box from my phone).
Either that or my aviator sunglasses. Why do people always comment on aviators? They've been around for decades. Hmmm...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books:
I don't read as much as I used to, but I did enjoy these.
*Ender's Game (orson scott card)
*Ender's Shadow (same author dude)
*Intensity (dean koontz)
*Anything Calvin and Hobbes (bill watterson)

Music:
I love European symphonic rock. I believe that if the great classical composers would have had electric guitar in their day, it would have dominated a lot of their compositions. String instruments belong in the genre. Most music I can appreciate as long as it's original and actually composed by the artist (none of that copy paste shit). I'm not a huge fan of country, but I don't listen to it, so maybe I just haven't heard the right kind. I do like some electronica though, mostly progressive trance or Japanese sugar-pop.
*Within Temptation
*Nightwish
*The Gathering
*Apocolyptica
*Owl City
*Ruslana
*Sirenia
*The Lonely Island
*Flyleaf
*They Might Be Giants
*Smile.dk
*Sarina Paris

Food:
I love Asian cuisine. Teriyaki is generally on my menu at least once a week. I'm not picky about food really, as long as whatever I'm eating isn't still alive. From Italian and Mexican to Iranian and Norwegian, I'm always open to something new. My dads side of the family is very "down home" though, so I also love thick slab of prime rib and potatoes.

Movies: If I sat here and listed all my favorite films, it would take hours. I really love all aspects of cinema and certainly enjoy a good summer blockbuster, but generally I look for a film that can move me in some way. I also really respect film makers that can craft a terrifying experience without the use of CG. That's why I love the older works of Ridley Scott, James Cameron, and John Carpenter.
*Donnie Darko

*Garden State
*Terminator 2: Judgment Day
*Blade Runner
*The Fifth Element
*2001: A Space Odyssey

TV:

The six things I could never do without

one. My baby sister
2. Diet Coke
III. Hot shower
fore. Teriyaki
101. Electricity
roku. Wet puppy nose

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Life and why people do what they do. Why I enjoy doing the things I like to do. What makes us act the way we do. Why am I typing this right now...

Video game theory, the evolution of gaming, and why the industry exists in it's current state.

Space. The universe is an incredible, violent, beautiful place, and when I step back and realize how small we really are, it makes all of our disagreements seem petty. Right now on Saturn's moon Titan, liquid methane is raining down on the planet's surface. This process continues day in and day out even though no one is there to see it. Why is that?

On a typical Friday night I am

At work trying not to fall asleep.

If I wasn't working, my ideal evening would consist of curling up with my dog on the couch with warm Japanese take-out, a good movie, and a friend to share and discuss it with later. I'm pretty laid back and love to just hang out, either at home, a park, or down by the sound. I love the ocean. The calm brings peace to the fray.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

When alone, I can get choked up watching Scrubs.

You should message me if

...you're sick of drama and want something real. I'm as loyal as they come. If you think we'll get along, let me know.
