I am eccentric, sporty, and sarcastic.
My Self-Summary
I can summarize myself in three words: I am awesome.
But seriously now.
I've been in Red Deer for just over a year, having originally moved
here for work within the scope of my degree. I work at a
physiotherapy clinic, and long and complicated story short, you
come to me with an injury, I boss you around and tell you to lift
more weights, and you thank me for it, eventually (usually). I
haven't yet decided whether I'm in my career for life or if I'm
going back to school at some point, but if nothing else this is a
good jumping off point.
Sports have always been a pretty big driving passion for me, and
while playing is always better than watching, watching is better
than nothing at all. I love all aspects of hockey and am a diehard
Oilers fan, even when they're not doing well (which, I'm aware, is
often, so you can just be quiet now). You can also take the ice and
melt it down, and I'll happily swim until my arms fall off (limbs
lost to date: zero, but I'm still young).
Other than sports, I'm a big movie fan, specifically
Disney and
action movies. The more
explosions, the better, which is at odds with the whole Disney
mentality, but hey. I also love rock and punk music, especially
live. I see as many concerts as my wallet can afford, which sadly
isn't nearly as many as I would like to.
I don't consider myself "girly" in the slightest; I'm far more
comfortable in a hoodie, jeans, and ponytail than being dressed to
the nines with make-up perfectly done.
I'd like to think that I'm open-minded to new experiences, but
pretty fierce in defence of the ideals I hold dear.
What I’m doing with my life
Learning how to be a real "grown up", which is a lot harder than my
parents made it sound!
I’m really good at
- Remembering random bits of trivia that people completely forget
they tell me. I'm pretty much a machine at Trivial Pursuit.
- Using my mad logic skillz. I like to keep my head and my heart
separated most of the time, and I prefer to make most of my
decisions with my brain.
- Listening (oh, how trite). I'm not wise enough in the ways of the
world to have all the answers, or even most of them, but I'll be
the person sitting up with you until all hours of the morning
because your significant other dumped you if need be.
- Planning, organizing, and directing things. I may not be the one
who comes up with the idea for the wicked awesome snowboard trip to
the mountains, but I'll be the one who's made sure everyone has a
ride/lift tickets/place to stay/enough food/a map of how to get
there. I've got a head for details.
The first things people usually notice about me
My sense of humour; I'm usually cracking jokes at the expense of
myself or others.
I've been told I've got a "cute smile", but I'll leave that up to
you to decide.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: His Dark Materials, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and
other fantasy books that I'm too embarrassed to admit to the
Interwebs.
Movies: Finding Nemo, The Lion King, Gladiator, Transformers, The
Dark Knight. Chick flicks need not apply.
Music:
Jimmy
Eat World, Rise Against, Death Cab for Cutie, Snow Patrol,
Stabilo, Linkin Park...how much reading time do you have? This
could take a while.
Food: I'm pretty much a carbivore. And a carnivore. Favourites
include anything Italian and tandoori chicken. Onions may make me
hiss and throw holy water in your general direction though.
The six things I could never do without
Friends, family, music,
hockey, fresh air, and
swimming
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where I want to go on my next adventure, and what new sport I want
to try when I get there.
On a typical Friday night I am
Typical? Oh dear.
That definitely depends on the season; in the winter, I'm probably
on the road with my hockey team somewhere in central or southern
Alberta. Summers will probably find me hanging out in a friend's
backyard, playing some Beersbie and laughing at pretty ridiculous
things.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I find the concept of a romantic relationship between two people
fascinating, terrifying, and exhilarating.
I also have ridiculously tiny feet. As in, I can (and do) shop in
the kids' section for shoes. Laugh if you must, but it saves me a
fortune, especially on skates.
You should message me if
You're reading this. Seriously.
