My self-summary
38R, 15 1/2, 31-30, 12 (U.S.).

Hardcore nerd, but not a geek. So I read about everything I can except for fictional mutants, elves, wizards, and the like. I've been getting 'how the hell did you know that?' pretty regularly for most of my life.

I don't believe in luck, karma, or cynicism. I follow my instincts, intuitions, and perhaps my 'heart', whatever that means. I believe that two people should be able to read each other's minds after spending enough time together but not in a mystical way. We are creatures of habit and emotion with a consciousness realized in a common language so it shouldn't be too hard to guess what's going on in that kooky coconut of yours or mine at times. Or am I way off?

Working in hospitality is more of a lifestyle than a career to me. This means I'm almost always helpful, well-mannered, and witty no matter where I am. So if you like to host dinner parties, we'd probably be a good match.

If we end up being friends... great! But that's not why I'm here (exceptions will be made for exceptional Scrabble players / trivia contestants). I'd be your penpal only if you live on Toronto island.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm hoping to be the human exhibit in an alien zoo. Perhaps you could join me. They'll want to re-create our natural habitat so that's something to think about.

I'd also like to play for a national soccer team in the senior's World Cup. Like, how hard can it be to make San Marino's or Fiji's team? I'd be willing to move if it mattered.

Until then, I'll continue working as a chef. I'd like to teach cooking and baking to young people eventually because I seem to have a knack for it. I'd also like have my own restaurant(s), and I have a menu for each already.
I’m really good at
- chopping wood, starting a fire, folding boxes, and anything else pizza-related
- making the best with what I have wherever I am
- showing up when and where I said I would
- caring or not caring (depending on what suits the situation best)
The first things people usually notice about me
My presence.

I get compliments on my hair sometimes. I'm also hearing something like 'I like your energy' from different people, which makes me smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
book: Currently enjoying a biography on Nikola Tesla (which I wish was called 'Electric Jesus'). Before that, I really liked '1421' and '1434'

movies:
Civilisation with Kenneth Clark
Century of the Self
F for Fake
Delicatessen
The Seventh Seal
Yojimbo
The Player
Some Kind of Wonderful
Crimes & Misdemeanors
anything with Steve Coogan
any insightful / depressing documentary

show: Jeopardy!

music: 60's psych or 80's stuff. What I like most are depressing bands that I wouldn't play unless alone like The Smiths, Spiritualized, Portishead. Same goes for Sparks and Ween, but they're more annoying than sad. I'd play Stereolab and Air at my restaurant. I also like singing and playing Beatles or Bill Withers songs on my guitar or mini-guitar. Growing up where I did made me somewhat of a fan of dancehall, which surprises some people who think they know me.

food: pizza, cafe sua da, deep-fried _______!
The six things I could never do without
Engaging conversation

My trivia team (friends + knowledge + free drinks 〓 good times)

An occasional night out dancing (sometimes it doesn't even matter where or to what)

My family, although I don't see them as often as I'd like

Blistex DCT and Extra-strength Fisherman's Friend

Self-denial

Wait, I forgot about zinc. Come back zinc!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- ideals
- new recipes
- the re-vitalization of Detroit
- comparing the news with history
- dead white European heroes
- an iclusive world where Asian cuisines use rapini and the former Yugoslavia re-unites for sporting events
- origin stories (especially where foods come from)
- going to Pag
- fan death
- the epic song I'm going to write after I meet you
On a typical Friday night I am
- re-arranging my taxidermy in my mom's dank basement
- eating buckets of macaroni salad
- reading Family Circus while ghosts of relatives look over my shoulder
- watching a painting of me age
- modelling 18th century handmade Amish swimwear
- crushing on my favourite girl-next-door-type: Donnatella Versace
- defenestrating
- blacking out on Wine Rack plonk or making last call at Nick's Pizza bar

...but I'm willing to skip it all for a night out with you
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I'm in a department store and an inexplicable breeze removes my hat, I'll turn into a mannequin.

  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 22–39
  • Near me
  • Who are single

You should message me if
- you're thoughtful and stylish and you want to go on a fun date (by which I mean that I want to watch you play with your phone when you're not complaining)
- you want to play SuperScrabble; tennis when it's warm enough
- you want to open a bar or restaurant with me
- we think we might hate the same things
- you don't care that Nature has denied me a beard and I refuse to get a tattoo (I'd probably like yours though. The tattoo, not the beard.)
- you like properly made popcorn or ginger-based beverages
- you're not totally guano
- I messaged you
