My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
In no particular order...

If it's a gorgeous day, I want to get outside as soon as possible.
Same goes for gorgeous nights.

Going to the ballpark for a baseball game on such a gorgeous day, and
kicking back with a hot dog and my best girl at my side would give me
a great sense of inner contentment. And, hey, as long as we're fantasizing,
let's get some of my friends there too! Ooh, and then I catch a promotional
T-shirt shot by a woman holding an air-cannon. Sweet!

I enjoy drinking with friends, but the real determining factor is the quality
of what's available to drink. I love good beer. A perfect gin & tonic
can also be a very good thing. I will make you one that can't be beat.

I sing and play the guitar. Not just three chords, either!

In general, I think life is too short to watch TV, although I'll make
exceptions for Looney Tunes. Movies, especially in the theater, are
another story. This can be a great way to spend an evening.

I love travel and have been to some pretty interesting places. I
hope there will be lots more to come. If I had a choice between a raise
in salary and more time off to go traveling, I would choose the latter.

Thank you for reading! Futurama rules!

I am open-minded, sanguine, and a good speller
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Until recently, I blew up supernovae in a computer at the University of Chicago,
but in a change of tack I have now taken on a position as a copy editor. I direct a Russian folk choir that sings a kind of music I can guarantee you've never heard
before because if you had, I would know you. Russians, this goes for you too!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
doing crossword puzzles, thinking about language, singing, drawing pictures, figuring out how to play songs on the guitar, quoting Raiders of the Lost Ark,
the lost, or at least rare, art of conversation.
The first things people usually notice about me

that I have no drawl, despite being from Houston. Sorry, ladies!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Apuleius' "Golden Ass", Pyle's "Robin Hood" (for the language), Bulgakov's "Master and Margarita". Books about linguistics. I will unabashedly tell you the publication date of the seventh Harry Potter book.

Movies: typical "guy flicks" like "Raiders", "Empire", and "Khan" (expansion
of these titles should be unnecessary), but also the occasional chick flick
like, um, "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure"! Oh, wait...

Seriously, I love a lot of different kinds of movies, and that makes them
hard to categorize or to name a favorite. I have recently remembered that "Singin in the Rain" is the greatest movie of all time (along with "Raiders") Oh, and I'll mention that I love cartoons and a lot of other animation

Music: Russian folk, ragtime guitar-pickers, Tuvan throat singing. Van
Morrison. Paul Pena. My favorite guitar player ever was Stevie Ray Vaughan,
but he died. I confess a weakness for musical theater. In fact I'm in a show
that opens next week (March 9)!

Foods: Anything as long as it's delicious. Meat, veg, Chinese, Mexican,
Indian, Ethiopian. Sushi is delectable, with a generous helping of wasabi.
I like my food spicy. I shouldn't leave out American. A big juicy
hamburger is a beautiful thing.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Summer evenings in the outdoor beer garden in Moody's Pub, singing, guitar playing, walking in the woods, my true friends, I can't think of a sixth thing right now, but I'll add one if it comes to me later. I think it might be Jack Pallance's finger.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My own mortality, others' mortality, linguistics, especially grammar and etymology, the shape of Daffy Duck's bill, how to be a better singer / musician
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
out of the house, being social in some way. Probably.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've seen James Cameron's "Titanic" more times than I'm willing to admit here.
