I am smart, funny, and thoughtful.
My Self-Summary
Hi -- my name's Sarah, and my profile is a bit of a braindump so
try to ignore the lack of organization. I'm independent; a bit of
an introvert; sometime shopaholic; and have a small, close group of
friends as opposed to tons of acquaintances. I like to travel but
don't do it often enough. I live alone with one cat. I'm very
confident at work and enjoy being a specialist/subject matter
expert/"go-to" person. I am drama-averse; many of my close friends
are guys - I think guys are more low-drama than girls. I love to
read and I watch too much TV; weekends tend to include casual get
togethers with friends over drinks, dinner, or movies; I'm not a
club-goer. I'm a proud aunt but not interested in kids of my own --
I think that gets back to wanting to be independent. I battle my
treadmill off and on, trying to get back "on" right now.
I live in town but work in the 'burbs.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now, I'm satisfied with my life but trying to put a little
joy back into it -- reconnecting with old friends, making time for
past forgotten pursuits (books and art to name a couple), and
travelling.
I’m really good at
staying even-keeled in the face of disaster/drama. Came in really
helpful during Ike! I like to consider myself a balanced person
overall.
The first things people usually notice about me
height probably - I'm 5'10" but love heels.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Music: I guess "indie" would be the word; Wilco is my favorite
band, and outside of that I'm usually rotating what I hear on XMU
-- right now, that includes White Rabbits, Okkervil River, Stella
Starr, and The Bravery, among others. Spoon is another
favorite.
Books: I love running through mystery series for enjoyable, fast
reads - currently going through the Ian Rankin novels. My favorite
book is The Time Traveller's Wife; I'm liable to get my ideas from
what's new at Borders.
TV: 30 Rock, Glee, Deadliest Catch.
Movies: around Halloween, I like to watch scary movies -- with
friends, never alone! I get sucked into putting "weighty" films on
my Netflix queue that I never seem to watch, but really love movies
like Old School or Talladega Nights.
Food: Just about anything - particularly partial to Hispanic,
Chinese, Thai, Italian, American....
The six things I could never do without
A/C, caffeine, internet, chocolate, a steady supply of books, and
fun stories from my nieces/nephews.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what's next for my career. My job is mostly satisfying and I can't
complain, but "no complaints" isn't exactly the best reason to stay
where I am. I think.
On a typical Friday night I am
recovering from the workweek at home and planning to get together
with friends on Saturday - nothing super exciting. I feel old now.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I secretly want to be "crafty" (Martha-Stewart-style), but I rarely
make anything that I really want to keep around.
