I am wondering, why, and how.

My Self-Summary

i like all those weird and out of the way places, and i'm constantly amazed at how many people i find living in the city that don't take advantage of all the unique culture and art and restaurants and bands and...and...

What I’m doing with my life

mainly art... too much for other people and a paycheck and not enough for myself....but i find a lot of different ways to be creative.

I’m really good at

good at painting.
not so good at piano...
good at throwing slobbery tennis balls.
not so good at typing.
good at making a mess of the house with my record collection.

The first things people usually notice about me

i'm still going with the glasses on this one.
they're black...
i hope you like them too because i need them to see things.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

there's just so much to love...
books:
chomsky, beckett, sedaris, flannery o'conner. coffee table books are always cool... pictures are fun! charles phoenix, i like my pop culture...and i like it kitshy, vonnegut, bukowski, vowell. travel books are awesome... especially if you're going somewhere, a confederacy of dunces, the onion, i had a job at the mall when i was younger and it was great, i just read books all day long, i was a terrible employee and was very bothered whenever a customer came in and tore me away from my book, i wish i still had time like that to read, but i'm pretty glad i don't still have that job...and probably my employer is too!

movies:
paul thomas anderson, wes anderson...the andersons...
most of the coehn bros...except burn after reading...yuck, i can still taste it.

lucha libradors...what's not to like about that?
70's horror. 60's beach. 50's sci-fi. i mention the kitsch factor right?
blacksploitation. did i spell that right?
so out of that you can draw your own conclusions...
pulp fiction, pee wee's big adventure...let's move along...
freaks and geeks have we talked about tv yet?
we can sub categorize here...
the wire, best show ever!
breaking bad, weeds, big love, 30 rock, rome, carnival, deadwood,
most of these shows beat the films they're making now.

music:
there's just too much to go into detail here... surf, bubblegum, 60's garage, early stones, late elvis, OLD country, outlaw country, inlaw country, exotica, punk, bluegrass...i like to mix it up i guess. i like records, the vinyl kind. i like those 60's dance songs...do you remember the fish stick? that's an easy one...

art:
are we allowed to add art? no art? lame. how about...egon schiele, glen barr, camille rose garcia, bill owens, john langford, nudie, hatch show print, clown paintings, warhol and esp. pre pop warhol, well there's a lot here too, i could go on and on but i won't bore you with the details...and there's a whole world of wonder out there waiting to be seen.

food:
oh and the food... food is awesome, and LA has it all!
i'm a real fan...how about sushi, indian, cuban, hole in the wall, exotic i'm there....can they make a mai tai?

...oh it's all too much... and if you ask me tomorrow about the specifics it would all be different... except for that part about the stones... and glen barr because they are awesome.

The six things I could never do without

a cute little black dog (i realize this may eventually become an issue)
sleep
paintbrush

I spend a lot of time thinking about

work.
the trails in griffith park.
painting.
music theory.
clowns and matadors.
santa vs. sancho.
the perfect afternoon.
spin art.
why we think we live in the most free society on earth but still basically only have two choices!

You should message me if

you don't mind my lack of capital letters and over usage of the dot dot dot...
it seems like a good idea at the time...
well, why not it's just an email after all...
