My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm settling back into the District after a few years abroad. Vices include overuse of the phrase "to be clear" and a tendency to drink one additional cup of coffee than is truly necessary in a given day.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
After a stint working in Liberia and grad school in the UK, I'm back in the States. I loved being abroad and have come back with a couple of happy English habits like putting milk in certain types of tea and an appreciation for ridiculously dry senses of humor. But I'm glad that my next step is US-based (albeit with an ability to frolic internationally with some regularity).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
staying in touch. A bunch of my close friends have moved West. Then I moved to a place where it took half an hour to load a youtube video and still managed decently well. And now I have all these Brits to keep track of...

Also, everyone always loves my birthday presents.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I love to laugh. I also walk REALLY fast.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: My best friend gave me an autographed Doris Kearns Goodwin for my 21st birthday. It's among my most prized possessions. But my all time favorite books are probably Graham Greene's The Power and the Glory and Mrs. Dalloway. And Coetzee's Disgrace. Also most anything by David Foster Wallace and Zadie Smith.
Movies: To Have and Have Not and The Birdcage were what quickly came to mind. There are others however. Big fan of Air Force One for unknown reasons.
Shows: Explaining to people how The Wire tracked reality in Baltimore (my home town) is one of my favorite conversations. I'm also a big fan of almost anything on the Travel Channel.
Music: Am I allowed to say the Mariah Carey Christmas album? That and Elvis Costello
Food: I'm obsessed with Indonesian food, but obviously can't find any in this city.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Laughing with my sister, public transportation, running by some sort of body of water, travel, my electric kettle (I promise you. They change your life), and a really strong cup of coffee first thing in the morning.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Lately I've been weighing the pros and cons of buying a car. Mostly I'm just worried because it's going to cost me $250 a month to park the thing. On the other hand, having one means I can go to Costco and Target WHENEVER I want!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
meeting three or four old friends for dinner and drinks.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I listen to songs I like on loop at the gym.
