My self-summary
i suppose i could throw out a slew of glowing adjectives: cultured, educated, strong, handsome, thoughtful, unassuming, unflappable, competent, decisive, gentle, articulate, good-natured, personable, confident, etc. but how would you know if my self-perceptions are accurate? we've all met people who had either inflated or just flat incorrect views of themselves. many people close to me reflect back to me that i have those qualities, but you probably don't know those people. or i could list off some of my life accomplishments or describe what i do and have done professionally... and that might say something about me, but not nearly enough.
What I’m doing with my life
this is a question for a person interested enough to exchange emails and meet for a first date. i make decent money, but i've tended to gravitate away from the really big money occupations toward the more service-oriented type stuff. i think my career choices have fit me, but work has never defined what i am about. i enjoy being a father; i have enjoyed being the man in a couple; i enjoy my friendships- wherever i have found them or they have found me.
I’m really good at
a few things that i would rather demonstrate than brag about; people have raved about my cooking though
The first things people usually notice about me
my strikingly rugged handsomeness of course
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
walk around a bookstore or a library with me and find out.
The six things I could never do without
i don't think there is anything i could not do without, but if i misplace my iphone or wallet, everything comes to a screeching halt until i find it
I spend a lot of time thinking about
things that many others don't
On a typical Friday night I am
feeling a great sense of relief and thinking... TGIF
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i am very unique. in fact, if you are asking yourself, "what type of guy is he?" then you are asking the wrong question because there is no type of "guy" category i fit into. don't try to bin me or categorize me because it will always lead you to the wrong conclusion.

i live about 40 miles south of Columbus.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 40–55
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
i believe men should initiate romance as a general rule, but with on-line dating, the rules are slightly different and there does seem to be room for a woman to show interest first and not lose her feminine allure.

you have to make an analogy to the "mating dance" that might occur if you actually physically met in person... seeing each other first, then making eye contact across the room that lingers a bit, exchanging a smile and open body language, then moving across the room, then making a casual comment to break the ice,... you can't actually do all that on-line.

plus, on line there seems to be a rule that it's ok to ignore someone if you aren't interested or "go silent" if you lose interest. no one should take offense at this. i don't; it's just the way people have adjusted to this way of searching for a partner.
