I read a lot so this one is hard to answer. Over the last several
years I have tried to read more of the classics but growing up I
was more of a
scifi/
fantasy girl. My favorite author is
Dostoevsky,
I've just finished
Let the Right One In, I'm
re-reading
The Brother's
Karamazov, and planning to read
The Girl
Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest next.
I used to be really into
manga and
anime but they're just not making it like
they used to. Although I will always have a special place for
Fruits
Basket,
Vampire Hunter D,
Akira,
Slayers,
Samurai Champloo and
Cowboy Bebop.
I love movies! Especially indie ones. Probably because I used to
work at an indie movie theater hahah. I just watched
Away We Go and I thought
it was really moving. I do have a somewhat dark taste and I really
enjoy things that push the envelope. My favorite movie of last year
was
No
Country for Old Men. Of course I love all the geeky movies;
Lord of the
Rings,
Star
Wars IV-VI,
Fifth Element,
Batman,
Fargo,
The Big Leboski and anything by
Tim Burtin,
Wes Anderson,
Hayao
Miyazaki (who is an awesome feminist!) or the
Coen Brothers. As for tv my
favorite series are
Mythbusters,
Dexter,
Heroes,
Venture Bros and
Doctor Who. I watch a lot of
scifi too. I grew up on
Star Trek Next
Generation and
Red Dwarf.
I like alternative music. I'm listening to a lot of
Radiohead and
Bon Iver. I also like
classical though I don't know much about it and I'm getting more
into jazz. Love seeing it live! I'm not really a big music geek so
if you define yourself by what bands you listen to we probably
won't have much to talk about. Sorry!
I haven't played many video games but I like the
Zelda,
Prince of Persia, and
Final Fantasy games.
Haven't played in a long time but if you like to that's cool. I
suck at shooters and I'm more of a rpg/adventure/wii girl I
guess.
Is there no section for the performing arts??? Support local
theatre and music!
Let's see, I like Shakespeare in the park and ballets. In the past
I've seen
A Midsummer Nights
Dream and
Twelfth Night. I haven't been to
too many ballets but I enjoy
the Nutcracker (a must for
Christmas!) and
Swan
Lake. I haven't been to the symphony or the Opera but I am very
interested in going!
My favorite website are instructables (although I must admit the
only thing I've actually made is the 5 minute brownie lol), the bad
astronomer (Phil Plait) site, and geekologie (What it's
hilarious!).
I don't really have a favorite cuisine (I like all kinds) and I
like trying new things! Cooking can be really fun too. I like
Seafood, Japanese, French, German, Chinese, Thai, Ethiopian,
Malaysian, Korean, Cajun/Creole, Brazilian, Italian, Mexican,
Indian, and Afghani. If I haven't listed it then I would love to
try it with you :)!
PS I especially like dim sum!
