Your Notes
Edit your notesI am like you, my pretty, and your little dog too.
My Self-Summary
I resigned from a high-pressure, high stress engineering consulting job this summer. Since what I do for work is a relatively specialized field, I am still looking for the next job. The pickings are slim in the Denver metro area, so I hope I won't have to move. If I do, my first choice right now is Vancouver.
I have a little piece of land and am slowly converting it to a permaculture experiment. I recycle and compost religiously. One of my favorite activities is also sitting in the back yard burning wood in my barbecue and soaking up the sun (known to occur even in the dead of winter).
If anyone I've met has anything interesting to add to this, please do tell.
Yo voy a Latinamerica por trabajo una o dos veces por año. Quiero aprender mas español pronto...
What I’m doing with my life
I'm cleaning up my yard, my house, and my life. Hopefully by the time I get my next job (fingers crossed for dream job) I'll be rarin' to go. I think I'm ready now, but I'm still sorting out the detritus from buying a house, working too hard to stay organized at home, and weeding out some people that really didn't belong in my life.
I’m really good at
Reading, writing, and 'rithmetic.
Not really good at online profiles.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've actually quizzed people on this, and have a received a variety of answers, including "that you're way too young for me" and "that you were upset". But overall, I'm pretty sure strangers notice my hair first. Or, my magnetic personality and how everyone around me is laughing and having fun. :-) (Depends on the day, the magnetism seems to turn on and off on its own.)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Food: raw, soup, artichokes, mushrooms, mashed potatoes and gravy, green chiles, fresh vegetables,PICKLES!, including other lactofermented food, cheese, olives, sushi. Anything exotic. Fruit.
NOT GMOs, which include the vast majority or corn, soy, canola, and cotton(seed) in the US. And now beets, sigh. Candy is no longer safe. Google nutricide.
MUSIC: Everything. This list kind of sucks; I've thought about stealing from other peoples' lists but I'm not that motivated. female vocalists, Bob Dylan, Donovan, Cat Stevens, Jimi Hendrix, Fugees, Black Eyed Peas, Ani DiFranco, Blackalicious, Carol King, Leo Kottke, Big & Rich. I wish my record player worked. My LP collection is far, far superior to my CD collection.
The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
On a typical Friday night I am
What I'd LIKE to be doing on Friday night: watching live music, driving away for the weekend, watching a movie with a friend, eating out, cooking in, playing with kids, or partying like a rock star. Depends who I'm with.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
You should message me if
You want to know more about GMOs, organic gardening, local food, composting, or the like.
You're an engineer. You're into food, gardening, reading, discussion (but not pointless arguing).
You have time to spend with a new friend.
You should NOT write me lewd or suggestive messages.
You should NOT write me if you're not sincerely interested in meeting a new friend some day, and seeing where it goes (even if it never goes past friendship, I believe every person comes into your life for a reason).
I am not interested in know-it-alls or babblers. (If you can't stand a 'comfortable silence', even the first time we meet, I can't stand you.)
Also, don't bother if smoking bothers you so much that you can't stand the thought of hanging out with someone who smokes. Notice my profile says "new friends"? I don't care if you don't date people who don't smoke... if I bothered to write you I obviously thought we had enough in common to at least be friends or do something fun together.
