My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I was, until recently, a financial specialist working for a large financial company in the Philly area. I'm also not NEARLY as boring as that sounds. :-) In my spare time (HA!), I'm an amateur filmmaker with two short films under my belt, and I do some writing and some professional acting, and I do some volunteer work for some non-profit groups. I have a LOT of friends who seem to think that I'm a pretty interesting guy. I'll just assume they're right. ;-P

I have also taken up photography, and I've been doing quite well with it. Some examples are in the photos section of my profile. You can see more at http://www.hughcaseyphoto.com/.

I am geeky, awesome, and pretty damned cool.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Having determined that it's me against the world, I am plotting my attack...

I guess I'm figuring out what I'm doing with my life. I have the funny feeling that I'll be doing that until the day I die.

Otherwise, I'm working on being the best me possible.

On a more concrete level, I cleverly disguise myself as a normal person, I work on my next filmmaking or writing project, and updating my blog (http://www.hughcasey.com). I'm also currently the Director of Programming for a regional Sci-Fi Conference, and I help out with a number of other SF cons (please see the above note about my being "geeky").

Also working on being the best me I can be. I'm getting there.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
All sorts of things. Try me.

Oh, you'd like more detail? OK... I'm a fine writer, speaker, and actor, and I seem to be very adept at making friends (I joke that "Women love me, and men all want to be my friend!" *grin*). I'm also quite funny (or at least I'll assume that everyone else is laughing WITH me, not AT me!).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Hey, I'm in shape! ROUND is a shape! *shrug* Yes, I have a pot-belly. But I'm still pretty good looking despite that... I think.

I've been told that my eyes, my smile, and my voice are all pretty distinctive (in a good way). I tend to be one of those people who other people gather around at parties... I have NO idea how or why this happens.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I'm a huge fan of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. As I mentioned above, I'm the head of programming for a sci-fi con here in the Philly area, PHILCON. I'm pretty much a big geek... but one with pretty good social skills (Um... I think...)

I write, I'm a filmmaker, and I love a good conversation. I also spend way too much time tooling around the internet, and updating my blog at http://www.hughcasey.com. I'm also a hobby gamer... D&D, miniature gaming, Carcassone, Settlers of Catan ("Do you have wood for sheep?"), and lots of other games.

Among my favorite books are "Lord Of The Rings", "The Prophet" by Gibran, "Stranger In A Strange Land", the "Sandman" series by Neil Gaiman, and most of Shakespeare's works. Authors I enjoy include Asimov, Bradbury, Gaiman (who I personally think is the finest writer alive today), Ellison, Heinlein, David Gerrold, Cory Doctorow, Charles Stross, John Scalzi, Peter David, Keith DiCandido, and a whole lot of others... but it's hard to find time to read these days.

Movies I enjoy are the Star Wars films, Blade Runner, Lord Of The Rings, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Casablanca (probably the finest film ever made), PIXAR films, and many, many other movies. I'm a bit of a film buff.

TV shows I watch are Mythbusters, Battlestar Galactica, Dr. Who, pretty much ANY Star Trek show, and most of the line-up on the various versions of the Discovery Channel and History Channel, with a smattering of the Sci-Fi Channel thrown in.

Music... I'm into most everything. I'm especially fond of classic rock and 80's new wave and 80's retro. I *REALLY* like celtic music.

As for food... well, is it bad for me? Then I probably like it. (Hey... I need to keep my girlish figure...) ;-P
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In no particular order...

Internet access.

Friends and Family.

My computer.

My mental faculties.

Sex. Or at least Flirting.

Laughter.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything I can... The universe is my classroom.

I am, however a bit ADD, so... Oh, look! A squirrel!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Doing something... the "what" varies from week to week!

Some things include:

Watching something interesting on TV... preferably with friends.

Hanging out with friends.

Seeing a movie.

Going out on a date.

Or perhaps I'll be at a con. I go to Balticon (Memorial Day Weekend), Wicked Faire (February), Wizard World Philly (May/ June), Pi-Con (August), Arisia (January), Philcon (November... this one's my home-town con), and others. I'm often asked to be a speaker or panelist at them. They're sort of my little vacations from reality. *grin*

Or, I might just be sitting at home for a quiet night in.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Private? On Teh Intartubes? You keep using that word... I don't think it means what you think it means...

I have a blog at (http://www.hughcasey.com), which I update through LiveJournal. If you have an LJ and seem like cool people, and you ask, I may well friend you. (Of course, most my postings are public, so you can read it without my "friending" you.)

You think that I might, by chance, be interesting. And you're interesting too. And you aren't looking for anything TOO serious at this point... I'm not up for that right now. But I like people, and I like making new friends, and we'll see what happens.

While I'm not listed here as Poly, Kinky, or Pagan, that doesn't mean I'm not Poly-friendly, Kink-friendly, or Pagan-friendly. I'm pretty much just friendly! So please get in touch!

If you like SF/Fantasy, and other geeky things, then DEFINITELY get in touch! We'll probably get along wonderfully!
