What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a graduate student in the psychology department at UCLA. A PhD is a monstrosity of a commitment, so I'll be here for the long haul. I'd be thrilled to tell y'all more about my work, but only if you're interested. Otherwise, I'll just summarize - it's science. I do experiments, read literature, write papers. You know, academia shit.

-Cooking. My dad's a chef, so I inherited that particular passion from him. I just made kimchi, I've got a batch of kombucha going, and I make a mean taco. A MEAN TACO. Seriously, it's good.

-Biking. I mean, I'm not really good at it, but I like it a lot. It's kind of scary to ride here, so if you know any good routes, hook a dude up.

-Writing. I write short stories and poetry, and uh...my mom thinks they're good. No, seriously, though, she does. Also other people. I'd be more than happy to let you judge as well.

Authors/books: I've been on a Pynchon binge of late. Salinger. Junot Diaz. Orwell. Huxley. In a past life I went through a bit of a sci-fi phase, so Orson Scott Card. Palahniuk. I tried James Joyce but my brain wasn't working - maybe another time.

Movies: I like documentaries, and movies in general, but it's hard for me to qualify what I like. My attitude about movies is kind of like what Justice Potter Stewart said about pornography in 1964 - "I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced within that shorthand description; and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. But I know it when I see it, and the motion picture involved in this case is not that."
