My self-summary
I tend to come across as nervous and a bit guarded or stoic when I first meet people. I generally warm up to people pretty quickly, and I'm generally a pretty friendly, warm-hearted person after that. Of course, I also tend to be pretty sarcastic, but I like to think that it's well-intentioned. I should probably also mention that I have a name; it's Drew.

I'm a former band geek, a wanna-be movie buff, and a dedicated history nerd. I have a slight tendency to launch into rants about politics, movies, or comic books with little provocation. I like to think of myself as a dignified adult, but I've come to realize that I'm usually way too lame and dorky for dignity even consider associating with me.
What I’m doing with my life
By day, I'm a humble worker drone, laboring in the harsh mines of the retail and service industries. By night, I'm still probably at work, but I'm also studying to be a teacher. Between work and classes, I manage to occupy a fair portion of my time, but I like to keep busy and try to put at least as much effort toward having fun as I do my work. I've also never really had much time for dating, but now that I've gotten my bachelor's and am living in one place year-round I'm trying to put myself out there a bit.
I’m really good at
I can't really vouch for the quality, but I really enjoy writing and like to think I've gotten to be pretty good at it. I love both telling and listening to stories, through writing or any other medium.

I'm a pretty good cook provided there's a recipe to follow, and I like to think I'm pretty quick on my feet in conversations. I've got a bit of a knack for trivia, and I can usually recall an obscure fact or movie quote for just about any situation.

More than anything, I try to be (and hope I am) really good about being there for people. Whether that means doing a favor for someone who needs help or just providing a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen, taking the time to support the people I care about is a top priority for me.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm told that my smile and laugh are very distinctive. I choose to believe this is a positive thing, because I use them pretty often.

The six things I could never do without
Music- No matter what I'm doing, if I'm by myself I like to be listening to music while I do it.

Books- Reading's always been one of my favorite ways to spend time, and I still spend a lot of my free time getting lost in a good book.

The Internet- A lot of my closest friends have ended up living pretty far away, and thanks to the internet I can still easily keep in touch with them. Plus, I love random useless trivia, and this is the best source of that I've found.

My Car- I think it's not so much the car itself (although it's a perfectly nice vehicle) as it is I can't imagine being without the freedom of movement that comes with it.

Friends- I tend to kind of fall into myself if left entirely to my own devices. Having people around to help keep me focused on enjoying the present instead of reliving or regretting the past and/or worrying about the future is one of the greatest bits of good fortune to have come my way thus far.

Conversation- There's something unique about every person's view of the world, and I really enjoy getting a chance to explore those differences between people.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Like I mentioned above, I really like storytelling, so I spend a fair amount of time trying to reshape the tangled knot of my thoughts and memories into something I can convey to entertain or inform others. I've also been spending a lot of time lately self-assessing, figuring out what I'm doing right now and determining what I want to work toward next.
On a typical Friday night I am
In my free time, I enjoy video games, reading, board games, writing, taking walks, watching or talking about TV shows and movies (especially sci-fi and terrible horror films), playing basketball, and cooking. Recently, I've been trying to work through my Netflix queue. I've got a bunch of weird gaps in my pop cultural knowledge (I saw Ghostbusters for the first time fairly recently, for example) that I'm trying to fill in.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The Brave Little Toaster is one of the scariest, most unsettling movies I've ever seen. It didn't seem that way when I saw it as a kid, but I re-watched it recently and it gets dark.
I’m looking for

You should message me if
Are you generally a pretty awesome person? Do you enjoy engaging conversations, movies with the words Mega, Giant and Vs in their titles, and/or playing video games? Are you looking to meet someone with a caring mindset and a sharp wit?

If so, message me! I swear I'm more entertaining in conversation than I am in the form answers I've put down up above this, but I'm afraid I'm normally a bit too nervous to start a conversation. Besides, if you made it all the way down here, something about me must have seemed interesting...
