My self-summary
My polyamorous relationship is unique in that my straight bestie is my primary. (Kinda like Jay and Silent Bob, Lavern and Shirley, Bo and Kinzi, etc.) We've been living together for over 15 years. She's fantastic!

I'm constantly doing stuff. (Though, not necessarily the stuff I need to be doing...) I try to live a balanced life, which is difficult since it goes against my all-or-nothing nature. I also try to find restful / peaceful times of meditation. This is good for centering but not so good for my desire to do ALL THE THINGS!!! Eh... it's a work-in-progress, this life.

I am Pagan and a feminist. My magic is private but my belief in equality is very public.

I'm more queer (possibly pansexual? But that always makes me giggle... Pans!) than bi. But it's all semantics, really. Basically, who you are means more to me than your bits.
What I’m doing with my life
I work at two different libraries. I run an Open Mic once a month & a variety of other events. It's part of my jobs and it's pretty freakin' sweet.

I volunteer with an animal shelter in their fostering program and assist with other events. (I previously worked there for over three years.) I have been known to randomly rescue animals.

I love to read, hike, camp, explore, swim, go for short bike rides (I'm working up to longer rides), play with my pets, play with other people's pets, eat at new places, learn new things, go on adventures, go to the theater, research random things, dream...

I also write... I write a lot... I write often... I don't write nearly as often as I should. I should be writing RIGHT NOW!!!
I’m really good at
being ME! Nobody does it better.
The first things people usually notice about me
Tattoos, hair, smile, goofy sense of humor...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read a lot. I rarely read only one book at a time. My interests vary and shift and I'm often doing research for my writing so I read about many different topics.

2016 Topics:
Folklore & mythology worldwide
October 8, 1871 Midwest Fires (Fascinating stuff! There were 5 on the same day in different parts of the Midwest.)
Iroquois Theater Fire
Libraries and Community relations
Writing practice / technique
Brain injuries & migraines
Animal advocacy

I also read lots of novels and short stories. Horror, supernatural, dystopian / post apocalyptic, Sci/Fi & Fantasy tales are my favorites, but I read in just about any genre available. (2 exceptions: I don't read many romances or westerns. They rarely grab my fancy.) I've also recently been getting into webcomics and off-beat graphic novels.
Give me a good solid story with believable characters who do interesting things and, if it's written well, I will read the hell out of that book, short story, poem, whatever.

A few of the Fiction Authors I adore in no particular order:
Charles De Lint
Mary Shelley
Neal Stephenson
Ray Bradbury
Lewis Carroll
Diana Wynne Jones
J.K. Rowling
Jhonen Vasquez
Roman Dirge
Douglas Adams
Neil Gaiman
CSE Cooney
George RR Martin
Madeleine L'Engle
Terry Pratchett
Brian Vaughan

We have no cable & no basic TV, but we download and check things out of the library or watch things on Netflix. I tend to "watch" while writing or doing other things.

Movies: I like LOTS of movies!
Just a small smattering of random movies I've watched many times... ALL the Alien movies, Amelie, Auntie Mame, The Bad Seed, The Big Lebowski, The Blues Brothers, Cabin in the Woods, Delicatessen, Evil Dead, Fargo, The Fifth Element, Hunger Games, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Memento, Mirror Mask, Night of the Living Dead, Psycho, Rosemary's Baby, Shaun of the Dead, Until the End of the World, Zombieland, etc.

Shows: MANY shows!!!
The Almighty Johnsons, American Horror Story, The Americans, Bates Motel, Breaking Bad, Continuum, Coupling, Dexter, Doctor Who, Dracula, Elementary, Firefly, Game of Thrones, Hannibal, Invader Zim, The IT Crowd, Jekyll, Lark Rise to Candleford, Lost Girl, The Maxx, Misfits, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, NCIS, Nurse Jackie, Once Upon a Time, Red Dwarf, Sleepy Hollow, Sons of Anarchy, Survivors, True Blood, Under the Dome, Walking Dead, etc.

Music: Aphex Twin, The Bastard Fairies, The Beetles, Bjork, Buddy Guy, The Clash, CocoRosie, The Cure, The Doors, Dresden Dolls, Gaia Consort, Garfunkle & Oates, Macklemore, Massive Attack, Ministry, Mumford & Sons, Nina Simone, Nick Cave, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, PJ Harvey, Santana, Siouxsie & the Banshees, SJ Tucker, Skinny Puppy, Talking Heads, Tori Amos, Tool, U2, etc.

To my slight shame, while I like classical music, I don't know it as well as I used to. *hangs head*

I do not like country. Nope, not even Willie Nelson.

Food: Vegetarian... My tastes tend towards spicy so lots of salsa, wasabi peas, curry, etc. I also like salads, sandwiches and pizza... always PiZzA!!!
I like food! But I don't eat carcasses or tomatoes... for very different reasons. (I will eat the humiliated juices of tomatoes in all its many glorious forms.)
The six things I could never do without
Sleep (that's where I keep my dreams!)
Creative Inspiration
Something to write on & with

I refuse to list people and animals as things, but I'd be hard pressed to do without my best friend and I don't think I'll ever again live without pets.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...the pets I care for - be they mine, a clients, fosters or someone I rescued.
...SUNDAYS!!! My one day off (usually)
...the latest story I'm working on. (I sometimes have "story brain" and will blurt out random things that are going on in my story that have nothing to do with anything anyone else is talking about.)
...proper grammar? It affects my writing.
...other people's stories, written & unwritten. I LOVE people watching and making up things about their lives! I hope other people do that when they see me and that the stories they make up are, at least, as interesting as my real life.
On a typical Friday night I am
No typical Friday, or any day, nights here.
(It's weird that English doesn't exchange the day for night... Frinight?)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
"Biting's excellent! It's like kissing, only there's a winner."
You should message me if
...you potentially want to date me, live in the Chicagoland area (preferably the western suburbs), are looking for more than just a fling, are not cheating, like pets and understand how to construct actual sentences.

...you just want to.

If you do message me, please, for all that's holy, send me more than a "hi" or "how are you" or "like your pics". An indication that you read my profile and why you're interested in me would be nice. Also, having your profile filled out will increase your chances for a response.

And one last thing... please have a picture of your face. I really don't want to repeat the time I was enjoying getting to know someone through email only to find out they looked just like one of my relatives.
