Oh boy, let's see. Although I did grow up in the suburbs, I
commuted to school at
Columbia (where I majored in
film and almost minored in
poetry) and finally
managed to move here to the city about two years ago. I'm currently
going through a divorce, but I honestly haven't felt this good in
years; I'm thoroughly enjoying this life-reset of sorts.
I'm a freelance
cinematographer,
photographer, and tv
studio technician. I'm not really a musician or a painter, but like
to pretend I am. I love starting random projects that are slightly
outside my comfort zone, but sometimes have a problem finishing
them. I read and watch films voraciously. I'm a
sci-fi and
ren faire nerd who never really got
into comics, video games, or anime for some reason, but I have been
known to dabble in tabletop from time to time. I love to
dance, but I'm pretty
terrible. Sometimes I dress like James Joyce. I consider myself
vegetarian, and
cook a lot of tasty
vegan dishes, but I still eat fish, dairy,
and eggs, so most real vegetarians consider that cheating. I guess
I'm technically an ovo-lacto-pescaterian ... or something?
I'm bi, but I've dated more women than men, so I'm a little more
nervous and insecure around men than women. But I've almost only
dated women who are also bi, so make of that what you will.
Reevaluating that at the moment, to a certain extent. While feature
cinematographer is still out there as a goal, I'd just be happy to
do something similar at this point, so the freelancing is taking me
in that direction. I want to make art, but I'm still figuring out
what I have to say. I'm sort of enjoying the sensation of sudden
uncertainty and the adventure of it all.
Procrastination, indecision, inappropriate humor, over-thinking,
and self-deprecation. Although, I am a pretty good cook and bake a
mean loaf of
bread.
I'm also a
karaoke
god and will kick your ass at
Scrabble (consider yourself warned).
Oh, and I'm a halfway decent
harmonica player.
Well now that the beard's gone, I guess it must be my goofy
haircut.
Uh-oh, list time. Please bear with me, I make a lot of lists.

Aspect ratios, translating emotion into lighting, how to better
manage my time, how to avoid being an asshole.
I prefer my Friday nights atypical. Lately, I find myself going out
more, maybe because my new apartment is so desperately small.
I really miss my
kitty. I have visitation rights, but it's
just not the same.
You're brilliant and funny and think I might also be.
You are not a serial killer.
